Er, I didn't read the whole thing, but the parts I read made her sound like an overly-indulgent fool. Yeah she admits to "handling things badly," but so. She's still spoiling her kid.
I read the original long article she wrote and found it quite interesting. I have seen lots of the new "Milleniums" entering the workforce and listen to some of their stories and I just can't even imagine my parents doing some of those things for me. One girl mentioned she actually had her mother negotiate her final grade with one of her professors at college. Really?!
"They" say there is a fine line between over- and under-indulging. Honestly, I don't think the line is that fine. People need to learn how to do things for themselves and if parents don't allow the kids to do so, they won't ever learn.
My husband thinks is Gen X'ers trying to overcompensate for being latch-key kids. It is an interesting theory.
