I'm happy/proud to report after being on an oscillator vent for the better part of a week, on a conventional vent for a couple days, and CPAP for a couple days..V is now on nasal cannilus. She's also back to her old self which I love to hear (she's getting a baby cry now before she sounded like a bird) but also hate to hear because she fusses a lot and I want to comfort her but nothing works. We realized today that she is going to be our girl that fusses/cries over everything. But thats fine she's earned It.
We are still working on bottle feeding A & C....I swear A looked at me with fear today because she always chokes when I try to feed her. Then she clenches her mouth shut or sticks her tongue on the roof of her mouth when we open it. She's makes the cutest face when she does this. C is picking up on it faster but she gets distracted by everything around her so we have to coax her to eat. The faces she makes are hilarious!
I'm so glad to hear that V is recovering so well! She is making great progress, I'm sure she'll catch up with her sisters quickly. I love how you are learning so much about each of their personalities-it makes you wonder what they will be like when they get bigger!
Bottle feeding is SO frustrating. My C choked all the time too, especially when I fed her. The nurses and my DH had much better luck. Now that she's home, I breastfeed and he does the bottles since I never got very confident with it.
My DH is also better at bottle feeding than I am (though he says hes better with A and Im better with C). We both tend to choke them but they seem to not be as bothered when he does It. I think I just get more anxious when I choke them than he does. I know I'll get It one day but, yes, It Is so frustrating. I'm pretty sure when its V's turn to bottle feed she will just grab the bottle from us and drink it down with no issue; she LOVES her food.
I think it Is really cool that they all have similarities (they all do this head/neck stretch thing when we hold them) but yet their personalities are different; A is the laid back one, V is the fussy/bossy one, and C is the drama queen.
They will catch on to the bottle feeding soon-its one of the most frustrating hurdles to get through since its usually so close to them coming home. The choking is super scary though-I still panic when C coughs while feeding!
You are going to have so much fun with your three girls as they grow-they are going to be good friends and it sounds like their personalities already create some kind of balance!
(Oh and sorry if I'm internet stalking you...I just worry about our NICU regulars when you don't post for several days. I totally get that you don't have time, just wanting to make sure you are all doing well)
I don't think you're stalking, don't even work about that. I like getting shout outs....kind of like how I used to like getting mail (before the bills started coming).:-)
