We want to start an awards chart. Not only do we want to include things like "clear your breakfast dishes" but we'll have "play nice w/ your sister" and "math projects." But what kind of actual chores do you have on your chart?
Our chart is more behavior-focused, but at 4, all I expect my DD to do is: put her dirty dishes on the counter next to the sink and throw away any meal-related trash, pick up her toys and books properly before bed, and put her dirty clothes in the laundry basket.
There's also things like dressing herself, brushing her own teeth, selecting her clothes for the next day, if you wish you include thingss like that.
We got the Melissa & Doug responsibility chart. We make it reasnoble with 5 daily goals. I think his current magnets are: sharing, help clean up house, stop whining, make bed, and clear dishes. They have a lot of ones though like: sharing, load dishwasher, etc. We put up all the other magnets and we left out only 25 happy faces. He can earn one happy face for each task a day. When he earns all his happy faces he can pick out a new toy.
Mom to Harmon 1/17/08 and twins Rachel & Callum 8/28/09
The only chore I have on DD's chart is "pick up toys"; the others are more focused on her behavior: "be polite", "share with others", and "be a good listener". We strongly encourage and always remind her to pick up her dishes after meals and wipe the table. She obliges because we give her one Clorex wipe and she LOVES using those things. She also has to feed her pets--one dog and one fish--which she enjoys doing also. Those last two responsibilities are fun to her so we don't have much trouble getting her to follow-through. Now, getting her to pick her toys...that's another story!
Our marble jar chart is more focused on behaviors. Some of the actual chores we expect her to do are take her dishes to the sink, make her bed and pick up after herself.
Feed the dog twice a day, clear away dishes after he eats, setting the table, cleaning up his own toys, putting away some laundry and other odd jobs during the day.

I love these two beautiful children!
* put dirty clothes in the hamper * pick up toys and books as asked * put dishes by sink * throw away any of her trash * let dog in and out as needed * help match socks from laundry
We've also started having her help empty the dishwasher. she takes the plastic plates she and DS use and puts them away.
- putting away clean silverware from the dishwasher (not including sharp knives)
- putting her dishes in the sink after meals
- feeding the dogs at dinnertime
- helping pick up toys/books
We try to let her help with a lot of things, like carrying in groceries, helping DH wash the cars on the weekends, helping me get the mail each day, helping load dirty laundry and get the washer started, putting her clean clothes away in her drawers, etc. But those are often just things that we ask her to help with on the fly because they aren't really regular, daily chores.
