Sleeping on back propped up/at an angle?

I just can NOT get comfortable sleeping on my side, even with a special u-shaped pregnancy pillow. Is anyone still sleeping on their back in a more upright position, maybe using a wedge or several pillows?

  • I still sleep on my stomach 90% of the time.  I'm starting to get used to side sleeping though and the Boppy wedge makes a huge difference. I highly recommend this little contraption! I tried several of the pregnancy body pillows and returned them all...the wedge is the only thing that works for me.

  • This is me entirely.  I toss and turn a lot, but my back is most comfortable, at least if I'm way propped.  Speaking of which, I need to go buy either a wedge or some more pillows . . .

  • I sleep with my pillow in a U shape. Then I tuck one part of it under my back to put me at a slight angle to my left. I can usually fall asleep this way until I wake up to use the bathroom. Then I usually switch to the right. What I wouldn't give for 8 hrs straight of sleep!

  • I sleep somewhere in between side and stomach.  I use the Boppy Pregnancy Pillow  for support (Learned to love it, took some getting used to). Usually, I have one leg straight (bottom leg) and one leg bent (top leg).  It's been working VERY well for me lately.
  • I'm on my back about 90% of the time.  My MW says my body will tell me if I'm doing something wrong.

  • I try to sleep on my left side, but do end up at an angle like you are saying and I still wake up on my back sometimes. I try not to sleep completely flat on my back, but you can't control what happens while you are asleep. I have a Boppy Total Body Pillow on one side and a body pillow on the other, so I try to trap myself, but still end up on my back sometimes.

  • I have a hard time sleeping on my side as well. I'm using the Snoogle maternity pillow. I had the Boppy, but after a month of usage it went flat. I love the Snoogle! It's so comfy and helps support me while I'm on my side.

I do find myself waking up on my back sometimes. My head is usually propped up pretty high because I like a lot of pillows. My OB said that a lot of women sleep on their stomach their entire pregnancy and are fine. If I were you, I'd just use extra pillows if you really can't sleep on your side.

  • I am a stomach sleeper but switched to back at about 15 weeks when belly was uncomfortable. Now I am strictly back because laying on my side is not as comfortable. I just sleep with two pillows propping me up in a slight incline so I am not completely flat.....and that also helps with my heartburn at night!
