Ovulation pains + no EWCM = no egg?

I'm mostly a lurker but have been off bcp for 4 months now. My cycles are pretty regular and when FF listed my O dates I used to get EWCM around the same time. This will be going on the 3rd month now where no EWCM but I still have ovary pains around the times I'm most fertile. So my question is... Even though I have the pains and no EWCM is there an egg that's released or is it just annovulary? DH and I were TTC but moving to FL in 2 weeks so I've just been charting. I dint temp but after we move and we start again in 2 months when insurance kicks in I'll start temping. I just use CM now. TIA. Sorry I'm on my iPhone.

There is no way to know for sure unless you temp.

But yes, it is possible to get all the signs of Oing and not O. During my 'unexplained anov' cycles, I got EWCM, sore boobs and just felt like my body was trying to O but I never got the temp shift. One anov cycle every once in a while is no big deal. This cycle when I did actually O, I had one day of very, very minimal EWCM.

So, my point is that EWCM doesn't = ovulation. You can not have it and O and you can not have it and O.

Why are you waiting for your insurance to kick in to start temping? It doesn't cost anything,so I don't get the point of waiting...

I guess it wouldn't hurt to start and learn. I think it's just because I'll be TTC again... Idk no reason I guess. Except when we really arty to TTC then I'll do more to chart... Eh crappy explanation. Sounded better in my head lol

I think what you're saying is you're not going to temp until you officially start TTC, which will be when your insurance starts in a few months, right?  If that's the case, I think temping before officially TTC is an option you should consider.  If you go ahead and start, you'll already have all the kinks worked out and a good understanding of your body.  Just a personal decision.  Whatever you decide, you won't be able to confirm O without temping.  Good luck!

 

ETA:  Also, I rarely produce much EWCM on my own, but I have ovulated every month that I have temped.  So I don't think "No EWCM=No egg" is inaccurate.

That makes sense. I'd still recommend charting now. It will help you know your body and you will have charts to look back on and go by when you do start actively TTC. Good luck!

Your CM is directly related to the amount of estrogen that is influencing your body; just because you don't see it doesn't mean you didn't ovulate, it just means your body wasn't producing as much estrogen as usual. Nothing to worry about, it most likely will come back. Our bodies go through curves and normal hormone changes- no two cycles will be identical.
