Anyone watch The Bachelorette?

My sisters are in serious lurve with that show, but I have never cared at all.

However, I am sicker than sick and DH took the kids to the parade in town tonight so I'm home watching what I assume is the re-run from Monday night. They are in Thailand and work at an orphanage for the day. It wasn't a huge deal on the show, but it made me wonder about adopting from Thailand.

Anyone looked into it? Is it a Hauge country? Wait times for referrals? Anything you can tell me about the program that I can't find out from an agency?

I really wanted the newborn experience but we also would love to do IA at some point.

Re: Anyone watch The Bachelorette?

  • we considered it a LOT. (my brother married a Thai, and since our 1st choice, Vietnam was closed, this was our strong 2nd choice)

There are mostly older (age 8+?)  boys available, and a long long wait ;-(  (it's been a while, sorry for no specifics - Rainbow kids?)

Beautiful kids, huh? You should see my neice!

  • We are doing IA, from south Korea.our agency also has a Thailand program. I highly recommend them as an agency - they've been great!! It's holt international. If you go to their site, and go to " international adoption" and click on "countries where we work" you can read about the process. Go to holtinternational.org

  • I am a huge Bachelorette fan.  I know!  Shame on me!  But, I have always been a big fan.  I thought the same thing as you when I saw the episode!!!  I wanted to gather more info too, but I see it is a HUGE wait which makes me sad!!!

  • The kids were precious and I get sad anytime a kid gets that excited about a bike or new shoes. My kids just live such a much different lifestyle. My heart was breaking for all those kids and it renewed my drive to pursue IA. We originally had looked at IA, but due to my age and the fact that we hadn't been married very long, we were disqualified from so many countries. I'm sure we qualify for a ton more now (yay for being 30) so I'm excited to look into it again.

Also- now I'm probably hooked on The Bachelorette. *sigh*
