Cloth Diapering

woven v. knit

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday which, in the first place, makes me break out in hives because of the massive amounts of just stuff in there but I wanted to look at fabric.  They had, like, 8 knit choices and the rest were woven.  I know woven doesn't stretch but is it really that bad?  I am off to a just fabric store later today and was wondering if I could increase my options.

TIA!

Re: woven v. knit

  • I have better luck finding knits at joanns fabric. And going to a fabric store will definitely increase your odds of finding knits.

  • unless i buy it online, i have a really hard time finding knits - i can only buy fabric locally at walmart :-(  and they rarely have knits.

it isn't "bad" to use woven vs knits, but the difference really is that wovens generally run smaller bc they don't stretch like a knit does, so baby can't wear that diaper as long as a knit one.

to my understanding that's really the only downside.  and if you're sewing your own diapers anyway, then you're already saving a lot of $.    i pretty much only use flannel bc that's what i can get cheaply.
