I don't have it but my sister, who is suffering from heartburn, just got an Rx that is safe to take. Might want to call and ask your mfm/ob for one. I know she also said that eating smaller meals throughout the day and laying propped up on pillows at night helps.
prevacid is your best bet - i took it with both pregnancies (I used to sell prevacid - it's Cat B, approved for babies as young as 1 and given to infants all the time, too... very safe drug).
you need to take it before you get heartburn, though.... once you have it- tums is your best bet.
I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.
I took pepcid every day no matter if I had it or not since it was really bad in the first tri. It got worse in the 2nd tri so my dr prescribed me something since the pepcid wasn't working anymore. It virtually went away in the 3rd tri (even though my dr said it would get worse and worse) so I stopped taking anything the last month or two.
Try pepcid and if that doesn't work talk to your dr about an RX.
I ended up with a prescription for zantac around 20 weeks. And even right before I gave birth I needed tums in between to keep the heart burn down (I had never in my life had it prior). If the boys had hung around longer I would have had to get a stronger rx.
nothing worked until my doc recommended prilosec and I never had a bit of heartburn for the rest of my pregnancy. It felt amazing!
this!!! Only Zantac not prilosec (even though i think they are the same thing) lol! I have been so much more comfortable!!!! (He approved me up to 150mg/2 times a day if i need it

So far I've been able to manage w/OTC meds. Gaviscon is waaaay better than Tums but is easy and works FAST!
Sometimes to prevent heartburn at night I'll take a Tagament/Zantac type pill.
