May 2011 Moms

Let's brag...

After the day I had, I just need someone to appreciate how crazy hard it was to get through this day! It was probably the second craziest day as a mom of two that I have had!

I was explaining my day to DH, and he just didn't get it. He's like, yeah, wow! So, I thought it would be nice to brag about what we've had to do as moms that no one else quite understands!

Today I took both girls to the park for a few hours, before the park we had to run into target to get sunscreen. After the park I came home and fed both girls lunch, at the same time. DH can't even talk on the phone and hold our newborn at the same time! Then we went to get groceries, because I haven't been to the store since DD was born! Then we took DD#2 to the doctor because she I've been suspecting that she has reflux, and she does. Then we had to make our last trip of the day back to target to get her Rx.

I am physically and mentally exhausted after the long day I had! I'm sure it's the first of many.

So, what was everyone else's hardest day so far? And kudos to us for making it through and keeping our sanity!

  • My hardest day so far was the day we decided to have our friends over for a barbeque at our house - they have 3 girls (4, 4, 7) and DS decided it would be a great idea to be awake and fussing the ENTIRE TIME - 3pm - 8pm...argh!! So I was trying to entertain while wearing the baby - I couldn't even sit down to eat!

  • A tidbit from one of my favorite comedic (now that I look back) moments in the last 6 weeks:

I had sat down to nurse my DD and had just latched her on when I noticed that my DS had a wet spot on the side of his shorts.  He's still potty training so I think, oh, gross...pee leak? OH NO.  POOO. All over. So, I put DD down, and she proceeds to scream and then DS starts covering his ears and screaming while running away from me trying to change his diaper. OMG. Meanwhile, his diaper was a 'splosion and he needed the tub.  I let him go naked while I finished nursing DD and then put him in the tub.  That was a (pardon my French) FML kind of day. haha.  I went to the liquor store that night, no joke. :D

Wow! That is quite the experience!

We haven't even started trying potty training yet, DD doesn't seem ready to me and I don't want to push her!

I second going to the liquor store, you earned it!

OMG - this is totally FML material.

Reminds me of last night - DD pooping in the tub while I'm trying to pump - I detach myself and boobs are like waterworks...awesome.

OR....the time DD got a crazy bloody nose randomly as I'm soothing the baby - bloody nose continued to bleed for like 10 minutes...it's one of those - REALLY? moments - this never happened before we had 2....

  • Yesterday I went to the grocery store and then to my mom's.  She is a cake decorator and she has a TON of orders this weekend.  So I went over to help her bake and decorate cakes.  I took all of my cold/frozen stuff in at mom's and put it in the fridge/freezer until we went home.  Worked on cakes all afternoon, packed up Will and got half way home when I realized we forgot all the cold stuff at mom's, turned around went back got the stuff, headed home again.  Five minutes from home Will decides he is starving (he'd been sleeping peacefully until this point) and he screams the rest of the way home.  I unload him and the groceries, come in the house and breastfeed him while putting away groceries!  It was too hot to leave the milk, frozen pizza etc. out until he was done eating and DH was at work.  Not gonna lie, I was pretty impressed with myself!

I go to the gym....that's it.

You did more today that I've done all week and I only have one!!!!!

I was actually crying to my friend today that I am becoming part of the couch. But it was 101 degrees today so getting LO out of the house means going....somewhere....and I don't have anyplace to go!!

Luckily I am having lunch with a feel PALer tomorrow, it will be SO nice to talk to someone who is in a similar situation.

PS- my DH is not working right now, so being home with him every.single.day is my hardest day!!!

  • Today I went to the chiro, gave LO a bath, changed the sheets and towels, finished the paperwork for LO's health insurance and made dinner.  It felt like a monumentally productive day.  lol

  • Uhh so far I've been up for 24 hours.
LO woke up at 3am last night and stayed up til 12-which was when we went to leave the house to go to his photo session. I never ate. He woke up and stayed up for 3 hours until the end of the session. I got peed on 4 times and pooped on once during this as well.
We came home and had to go back out to the mall. After dropping daddy off at work. Then picked him up a few hours later.
He finally fell back asleep for the first time since about 4pm-when he slept for only about 45 minutes.
I got him to go to bed IN his bassinet tonight. This is only the 2nd time in almost a month that I have been successful with this.
No naps for me today but I did con the FI into agreeing to be up with him tonight.
AND to top it all off I got 8oz out of ONE boob in about 15 minutes, beautiful job boob, beautiful job!!

This is pathetic of me. Why am I excited about this....ha.

  • Lisa funny story...I feel like that is our house everyday! I stop telling dh what I do bc I know he wouldn't understand how hard it was. Probably my best day was actually getting to swim practice on time to sign up, stay for 30 min practice, meet with landscaping guy, do dishes and lunch, get Grady and Alayna down for naps, mow the yard during naps, little bit of laundry and picked up. Came home from picking out flowers as a family and made dinner...I can't figure out why I am so tired...anybody else lol

  • I finally cooked a real meal last night.... while pumping (manual). I was proud of myself.

  • Last weekend I went to a wedding about an hour from my house.  To keep things simple, we got a hotel room where the wedding was taking place and had my parents watch DD in the room while we went to said wedding.  I know this doesn't sound like much, but it was a lot of work and coordination, and PACKING.  Holy moly, for one night away, we brought as much crap as I took to Greece for 12 days last year.

We had a blast and it was totally worth it, but it took a whole day of preparation to make it happen :)
