I recently moved to Atlanta due to my husbands work.  I have never lived away from my family and friends so to say the least this is a big transition.  I have no friends in the area and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a mommy and baby activity where I can meet another local moms.

Also,   could you recommend a pediatrician?  My baby girl will need to see the doctor soon for her 6th month appointment and I prefer the recommendation of other moms over anyone else.  Thanks so much!!!

Welcome!  Sometimes we have board GTG's and some of the other board members might be able to direct you to local mom groups.  What part of Atlanta are you in?

We use Dr. Ronnie Smith in McDonough directly south of Stockbridge on Jonesboro Road. There are 2 NP in the office with him and the entire staff is awesome and really down to earth! Anytime I've brought DS in for ear problems, they always call a few days after and check on him, as well as when I've had to call CHOA and take him to an after hours clinic, they called to check on him. I highly recommend them! We used a dr. in Stockbridge for DS's 12 month check-up and I refuse to go back to him; we had to switch for insurance reasons. SHHH! It's hard enough to get an appointment there as it is! Seriously though, they are great.

I'm waay far from you, so I can't recommend a pedi.  But for some groups to meet moms, "The Music Class" has programs all over and I have met some great moms by taking DD.  It's also been a wonderful program for her.  We started going when she was about 8 months old and now she probably has over a 100 songs memorized!   www.themusicclass.com

I also joined a mom's group in my area on www.meetup.com and have met some nice moms.  Perhaps you can find one in your area?

Hi Kedrin!  This is Elaine, from Mom Squad.  We met once at Barnes and Nobles.  Welcome to Atlanta!  I also live in Stockbridge.  I have a 9 month old baby girl.  We also moved to Stockbride for job reasons, so I don't know that many people either except some of my neighbors.  Our pediatrician is Dr. Chin or Dr. Eady from Kids First Pediatric Group.  So far, I like them and I think they are great with answering all your questions.  If you have any other questions, please feel to ask me.  I hope to see you and your daughter again soon!
