Meclizine?

in February 2012 Moms
Unisom and Emetrol are on my doctor's "safe" list for medications to relieve m/s. I could not find either of these, but I found meclizine. Has anyone's doctor told them if it is okay to take in pregnancy?

    I have never heard of it. As soon as I told him I wanted to take something for m/s, he was quick to perscribe something. Could you call and get zolfran or phenergen?

    Got ya. I got Sea-bands yesterday. They took the edge off, might get you through the weekend? I am getting a script, too because I get sick the second I take my bands off to shower, etc. Good luck, sweetie!

    I haven't heard of that either.  But I completely sympathize with you.  I started getting m/s towards my 5th/6th week and it seemed to get worse every day.  My DR initially subscribed me Zofran but my insurance wouldn't pay for it at first so they gave me Phenergan.  It made my stomach worse and like you the weekend came and I had to suffer through the weekend before getting a hold of the doctor first thing Monday morning.  I eventually got the Zofran and it is helping me get through the day.  Getting through the weekend was tough. A lot of people told me to try eating something before your feet even touch the floor in the morning.  While it didn't really work for me, it seemed to help a lot of people so maybe it can help you.  Good luck and congrats!

    I forgot, one thing that helped me feel somewhat better, even if only for the moment, is italian icee's (sp)

    Meclizine is the drug used in Dramamine. It is safe as told my doctor, but of course, I would check with your own dr, too. They told me I could use it this pregnancy but then they wrote me a script for phenergan instead.
