PP appt- WTF?

I called to make a 6 week PP appt. the MW and the receptionist said there are no appointments available with the MWs until August 18th.  There are 4 MWs in the practice.  Really?  What happens at a PP appt.?  They've scheduled and rescheduled appointments all over the place during my prenatal care with no problems.

Then she said she can't make an appointment for me in August b/c I won't be PP anymore.

So I have an appointment with some OB in the adjoining OB practice at the end of the month.

I know I should have made the appointment sooner (I actually forgot about it entirely).  I figured I'd have to wait to get an appointment further than exactly 6 weeks, but August, really?

I'm going to email my MW- this just doesn't make sense.

No advice on what your appoinment would be like since I had a c/s, but it should take about 5 minutes! They can sqeeze you in!

My midwife had me call and schedule all my PP appointments after DS was born. He was born on a Saturday and she came to my home on Monday and  Wednesday to check on us both (look at my episotomy, give me my RH- shot, feel my uterus to make sure it was shrinking, talk about his jaundice and refer us to a ped for it because it was bad, weigh him, help with BF etc). She had me call and schedule my appointments at the clinic for 2 weeks after he was born, 4 weeks and 6 weeks.

At the two week appointment, she felt my uterus again, weighed him, and made sure his jaundice had cleared up. At the 4 week appointment she cleared me for sex and mild exercise, weighed him, asked about his feeding etc.

At our 6 week appointment I'm not sure what will happen yet- but after that we start seeing my family doctor.

  • LO was born on Friday and I was advised to call Monday to make my PP visit appointments. I ended up having complications and  going weekly so far, but I've nver been able to just call and get in the next week, except when I was first pregnant.  There are 5 MDs in my practice.
