The opposite of you fave things: if you could start over knowing what you know now, what would you buy differently? Or what did you buy to cope after the baby showed up?
Crib - I wish we'd got the cheap IKEA Gulliver with slats all the way around. I sleep beside him, and I can't see in the side that faces me on the Leksvik.
Bed rail - yeah, I'm totally not going to bed share. Except I am. Bed rail bought and loved.
Zippered sleepers - yes, we bought more. In NB knowing they'd last like 2 weeks. Worth it.
Re: Do-over purchases
We're loving the swaddleme-I wish we had gotten more and just skipped the sleeper and PJ outfits. We also have a pacifier that we got in a swag bag and I wish we could find more like it- it's Ben's favorite.
I would also have just bought pump in the beginning of my BFing adventure rather than renting one for the last month.
Well, we only bought sleepers for DD3, and I probably should have skipped that. She hasn't worn them and she has already outgrown them. It has just been too hot.
I would not buy a bassinet!
NICU told us we needed one, and two weeks later she was in the rocknsleeper due to reflux. Now, two months later, she is in her crib for all naps and about 70% of the night.
The bassinet holds all those fricken stuffed animals people bought her. WHY???
Bathtub - DH insisted that we get the boys a jacuzzi tub. The thing was freaking EXPENSIVE! It had a shower head built in so you can easily rinse the baby with clean water and a push button starts the bubbles. But the shower head takes 4 D-size batteries that don't last very long and the boys hate the bubbles. I just bought a new, regular bathtub with no bells and whistles since the boys hate DH's tub so much. I wish I'd gotten it from the get-go, bath time is much quicker now!
Tommy Tippees - Boys hated them. No way to know in advance, though, so I'm only heartbroken that we bought so many.
Soothies - The NICU used them, but they're really expensive (for pacifiers, anyway) and the boys like the Playtex pacifiers just as well (which are less expensive).
We've been lucky, almost everything we bought we use and love
I only opened 3 Tommee Tippee since K used the tiny bottle from the NICU most of the time(even when we came home, they gave us a TON!). When we realized she didn't love the Tommee Tippe I retured the once that weren't opened, over $100 worth!!!
We have spent that much on bottle trying to find one that she does like and we have yet to fine it. Right now we are using the gerber bottles with the NICU nipples. Breastflow should be here today from amazon....we'll see what she thinks.
I wouldn't buy any pampers wipes, I really don't like them.
We also bought the changer for the top of the dresser, I think it will be awkward to try and change him from the side.
We also went out and bought more zippered sleepers, he may be in those a minute, he's a small little guy.
Those are the only three I can think of right now!
BFP #1 9/7/10, EDD 5/14/11, Violet born 5/27/11.
BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
I bought a ton of Kissy Kissy sleepers for $35 each. It's so hot here that we end up just putting her in the SwaddleMe and skipping sleepers, so they all got worn only one or two times.
I bought a couple packs of plain onesies just in case, but I wish I hadn't. She hasn't worn any of them. Too bad dumb me washed them before knowing they wouldn't get worn.

LOL! I love that it only takes weeks to realize that the Baby Industrial Complex really preys on new moms.
We will probably ditch the swing soon. She doesn't like it. Jack did, so it wasn't wasted but it is wasted space right now.
I hate the Miracle Blanket. $35 in the toilet.
I wish I had written down somewhere after Jack was born that snaps are bullshiite on footed sleepers. Gowns are my friend, and I should have skipped any and all sleepers with snaps. I do enjoy it when they get to zippers though.
I have $30 worth of pacifiers and DD will not take a single one. I bought every different shape and kind. No dice.

I had so much hope for those cherry-shaped ones. Nothing. And when did they become $5 for a pack of two?!?! Jack used the Soothie from the hospital and loved it. LOVED IT! This kid better love Sophie, because Jack didn't, I need to get the money out of her that way.
more burp cloths
more swaddleme's
varius paci's to try
more sleepers
pants and long sleeved shirts.. the child owns like none. and it is cold instead of warm. she has all these damn dresses she will never fit in probably because of the weather! glad i left the tags on.
I've only opened up one of the paci's we got as a gift to try gumdrops? i think and Isla willllll not take it. we have another set of gumdrops and some other brand that looks just like gumdrop so no point in trying those.. i dont even know if i should try other brands but the kid has a desire to suck on something..but i think she may require milk to come along with the suck.
I agree we have too many footed sleepers when it's been too hot to wear them. Also agree that zipped sleepers and dressing gowns are the way to go.
I would have skipped the KL0s and xs BG diapers and saved $75. So far prefolds are the only dipes that hold his pee.
I might have passed on the swing. He takes naps in it, but doesn't like to swing.
I wouldn't have bought the cool looking rocker from Urban Outfitters. It does't rock and thus is worthless.
The moby wrap doesn't work for us. He freaks out 75% of the time when I put him in it. Plus it just gets way too hot for the both of us.
ETA: Sleep Sheep. I put it on because it soothes me at night. He couldn't care less about it.
We have several types of bottles that didn't work for us (the ones we registered for, plus some other trial and error bottles) and different types of pacifiers, none of which she likes. Ah well.
We had to get more newborn clothes and diapers after she showed up. I'd heard that babies grow out of them so quick, but she's just beginning to grow out of them now.
m/c 6/10
NO JOKE on paci cost. It is an expensive "trial and error" process. I am goign to try one more kind and then give up.

I bought a second changing table pad that fits in the co-sleeper and LO will finally sleep in there. And I bought more zippered footed sleepers and pants, which have come in so handy. I wish I hadn't picked up so many NB onesies because it just hasn't been warm enough to wear more than a couple of them and she's already outgrowing them.
I don't feel like I bought a whole lot of unnecessary stuff, but I sure wish other people hadn't spent so much money on worthless things. I have 5 pairs of NB shoes that she will never wear and several outfits that she wore once before she outgrew them.
I'm really glad that we borrowed or were gifted so many things, like the swing (that she hates), so I didn't waste a bunch of money

We had to go buy a bunch of footed sleepers because it's been so unseasonably cold here. But on the other hand, we never used the fleece sleep sack because that was too warm for him. Cotton version works great, however.
I recently ordered a breathable bumper. He's already regularly squiggling over to the side -- while swaddled or not -- and poking his limbs through the bars. Then hollering.
We haven't used the Ergo carrier yet (and that wasn't cheap) just because it intimidates us. How to put him in it without dropping him, pinching him, etc. Straps everywhere.
We didn't purchase these things (they were hand me downs) but I'm glad that we didn't have to because he doesn't like them:
Bassinet
Bouncer
Swing that goes side to side
What a waste of money all that would be! We did purchase a travel swing that swings front to back and he actually does like that one and I like it because it doesn't take up half our living room. I can't wait to give back all that other stuff that just is taking up space now.
Glider -- I hate mine. We got the cheapest one on the market and it is cheap for a reason... I never sit in it. Maybe it will be better once DD is older and we are having story time, but for now, it was a waste.
Nursing tanks -- I was going to order them on my due date but my water broke instead, ugh! I was totally miserable without any nursing apparel, and DH and MIL went out to a store and the one they had was $44. They bought it for me and it was really uncomfortable. I wore it for like 2 weeks until the ones I ordered online came in. Not ordering sooner and having them on hand was by far the stupidest thing I did.
Bouncer -- We had it on the registry and received it, but DD is really apathetic about it. We never put her in it, but will try again the next couple weeks.
Bottles -- I EBF and wanted "a few on hand" just in case. I have way too many for the occasional pumping.
