Your favorite things!

So now that we're the annoying parents with a whole month (or week, whatever) of experience, what are your favorite baby things?

Zipper sleepers: I hate snaps. I hate them a lot at 3 am diaper changes. Especially in NB, I want a zipper.

Bouncy seat with vibration: It knocks my baby out like nothing else (he's pretty ambivalent about the swing). We've got the FP Rainforest one - haven't put the toys on yet, but I think he's nearly interested enough to try them out.

Mei Tai carrier: I have a pocket sling, a wrap, an Ergo, and a Mei Tai. For the first month, the mei tai wins for being easy to put on and still holding him super securely.

  • Sleep Sheep - Love this thing! Have one upstairs in his room (big one) and one downstairs by the pack n play (travel one)

Pack N Play with newborn napper - This is awesome! He sleeps in the napper during the day (crib at night). My husband works upstairs from home, so during the day we hang out downstairs and can use this to change him and get him a place to sleep.

Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets - Just bought these, and they WORK! They are big enough to actually use, especially in the warmer months.

Munchkin Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail - NO SMELL! Yay!

Munchkin Cool Wrap Bottle Bag - So that I don't have to run up and down stairs at night, I have this in Mason's room with 3 bottles for his nighttime feedings. Keeps the formula nice and cold!

Seahorse - This should be at the top of the list. My son LOVES this!!! The music and the light are soothing for him. He is mesmerized by this toy!

  • My favorite item is the free paci that the hospital gives you (the gumdrop paci) she loves it and won't use any of the other paci's in the house.  We actually went to Target to buy a couple extra packs to leave in the diaper bag, her swing, her crib etc.  we have them everywhere.

We also love the pre-made swaddles that you just have to velcro shut because neither of us know how to wrap her in the receiving blankets.

  • The summer infant swaddles with the velcro, amazing.

Zippered sleepers, like you said, makes night time changing easy.

JJ Cole diaper & wipe caddy keeps everything together in one place without being messy.

The Fisher Price Snug A Bunny swing has been great for naps!

  • Love the swaddle me. Just asked my mom to pick up a couple more at target.

Love my nursing cover. I have used it a lot while pumping and breastfeeding.

Love my Uppa Baby stroller!! So easy, we use the bassinet for walks every evening. And the Chico car seat attachment is super easy to use while we are out.

The nippy newborn booster thing has come in handy, I didnt register for it, but I am so glad I received it, the nippy itself is pretty useless with out it.

Edit: nippy=boppy according to my iPhone autocorrect

His three plus my one; we are all excited to welcome a little one!

  • SwaddleMe - I like the velcro and zipper versions

Her entire nursery - it's so peaceful...lots of times when she naps I just sit in the glider and read.

UppaBaby Vista stroller - love, love, love this!  It's so easy to fold and go, and I love the basinette so I can wheel her around the house with me.

  • Woombie

    Rock n' Play

Gerber Birdseye Flatfold cloth diapers. Kid spits up a ton, even with a 12 pack we are always washing them. And they are great for toddler cleanup, no paper towel waste (Jack has his own set from when he was born, we still use them)

Aden and Anais blankets, but not for swaddling (she gets out of my super tight swaddle real quick). I use them as NIP covers. I don't like my BF cover that I made, it is a bit hot, these are way better.

Baby nightgowns, snaps are for suckers.

ETA: Moby and a woven wrap a friend gave me are getting a ton of use. I have all the carriers (Ergo, several Mei Tai's, a Podaegi, a couple others). Love.

and I like the snap sleepers... i like that i only undo the bottom parts and we are good to go..

she is not a huge fan of the moby but we tried a friends ergo and she fell asleep in 2 seconds.. i need an ergo.. especially since she has cried if i remove her from my lap the last few days.

Rock N Play Sleeper - life saver.  She only sleeps in this.  And with her reflux, this has been very helpful.  We are so tempted to by another one for downstairs so we don't have to keep carrying it back and forth - lazy huh?

Pack n Play - It's kept downstairs - meant for naps, but she doesn't sleep in it.  Love the changing pad.  The bassinet area has turned into the "crash cart" with extra bibs, clothes, burp cloths, and blankets.

A&A blankets - She hates swaddling.  But I love how lightweight and huge these blankets are.  Perfect for Los Angeles summer and covers car seat/stroller when on the go.

Gerber bibs - The velcro doesn't scratch and they're small enough to fit my baby.  The velcro isn't very strong, but she hasn't tried pulling them off...yet.

First Year's Tub - the newborn sling has prevented her from literally being a floppy fish in the tub.  And she seems to like the security it gives.

Sleep Sheep - might become one of my favorite things.  Just got it.  Running faucets probably won't help my water bill.

Boppy - It makes nursing fun.

Pack and Play - He sleeps in it next to our bed. So it's functional. More so than the crib that he has spent a total of 10 minutes hanging out in.

Toys - Jacque the peacock, whozit, and the Melissa and Doug blocks in my siggy. He loves looking at them and is starting to reach out to them.  If I stack the boxes, he will knock them over. He probably doesn't know he's doing it, but it amuses me.

Miracle blanket -  Up until last night, this was our swaddling blanket of choice. Now the miracle blanket is no match for his escape artist ways.

Cloth wipes warmer - My husband insisted we buy this. I have to say it is pretty convenient having wet wipes all ready to use.

Prefolds - They're cheap, easier to use than I anticipated, and they work.

  • My absolute favorite thing is my Baby Jogger City Mini double stroller.  I can't believe that I was going to try 2u2 without this stroller.

Other loves: bouncer, swing, and sleep and plays (with snaps)  I hate the zipper pjs

My brest friend pillow: So much better than the boppy for me.

    Miracle blanket

iBaby Feed iphone app (like the itzbeen) it helps me remember when I last fed her and on what side. So important for my tired brain.

A&A blankets have been perfect for car seat or stroller blankets in this warmer weather.

  • I love this bath tub: https://www.summerinfant.com/Products/Bathing/Tubs/Right-Height-Bath-Center.aspx    It works great because you can place it in the actual bath tub and it is raised up so it is a comfortable height.

I'm glad we got a swing...  Our LO loves to nap it in all the time.   If he is being fussy, we can put him in there and he calms down instantly.

Since I'm not CD right now,  I'm loving Pampers diapers.  We tried Huggies brand for awhile but had leaks all the time.  I think Pampers works better for boys.

  • What a great post!

Pack and play - this has been our change table downstairs, and has gotten a LOT of use.

Bumbleride indie stroller - LOVE IT!

Snugabunny swing - he sleeps longer here

Regular Exercise ball - has been fundamental in getting him to go down at night.  He loves motion of all kinds, and its relaxing for me as well

Sleep sheep - I echo at what someone said above - I'm pretty sure baby doesn't care, but it certainly helps me get to sleep (when sleep is IMPORTANT)

My snug a bunny swing.  He sleeps in this 90% of the time.  I dread having to break him of this bad habit.

A+A blankets that I don't use for swaddling, but use to cover the car seat or to nurse in public with

Summer Swaddleme's although I think I am going to have to look for something else as he keeps breaking out of these in the last few days

Fisher Price seahorse.  He loves looking at and talking to this.

The white noise machine and the sleep sheep we have.  I am not sure if it is him or me that likes it, but hey either way.

Gowns.  So easy to change diapers in the middle of the night.

  • Zippered sleepers

Swaddle-me type velcro swaddlers (I think they are Kiddopotamus brand)

Thick cloth diapers for use as burp rags

Dr Brown bottle warmer (especially in the middle of the night)

Boppy - I don't like it much for BF but it makes a great temporary baby-propper-upper

    Mylicon drops

  • We both love the Boppy. We have two -- one for upstairs and one for down.

The spacesaver swing. It also has vibration. One or the other setting will sooth him. And it's light/small enough to just pick him up and move him from kitchen to dining room or whatever.

The Soothie pacifiers from the hospital. We didn't have to shop around at all.

  • FP Rock and Play - It fits nicely in our room and he actually sleeps really well in it which I can't say about his crib just yet.

Halo Swaddle Sleepers - he will relax in seconds once wrapped up in one!

A&A blankets - for the same reason above

Boppy - I love how easy it makes nursing since LO is getting bigger and heavier to hold

Medela PISA pump - I am really starting to get the hang of nursing now.

Sleepers - snaps, zippers I don't care but I love how adorable LO is in them!

Changing table - this surprised me because we weren't even going to get one until it came free with his crib.  I love having all his CDs in one place and organized.  Makes my life so much easier!

  • Rock and Play - can't say enough good things about this!  DD loves it

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Boppy pillow! I thought it was hype but put it on my registry anyways. I use it all day: feeding, having DD sit in it, and (supervised) naps when we are on the sofa.

Pack 'n play! We are using it right now to co-sleep and when she moves to the crib, we will use it as a playard in the living room. We have the Baby Trend monkey one.

Our dresser/changing table combo! I had my doubts I would use the changing table, but we do all of our changes there. We got a tower model (I believe by Stork Craft) so it will age with her.

The tub! We got the Summer Infant Newborn Fold Away tub and it is perfect for our needs. The sides clip up as a newborn sling and not only does the tub portion collapse, but the whole thing folds in half which is exactly what we need... not only for our small living space right now, but for the prospect of storing it until LO #2 comes.

iPad! This doesn't count as a baby item, but I use a tracking app religiously, and I constantly google anything weird she might be doing, as well as play on TB and facebook during looooong nursing sessions.

I have a new addition to the list.  The Rockabye Baby CDs.  We've been listening to the songs on loop on Groovershark all weekend.  The baby really mellows out when he listens to them and we like them too.
  • I'm going to add the My Breast Friend.  I've switched to using it instead of the Boppy and can now BF with one or both hands free, which is hugely helpful to not feeling trapped for up to an hour at a time!

And the Ergo.  I busted it out this weekend and I love it!  So much easier and more comfortable than the Moby and her head is at perfect kissing level  :)

  • a+a swaddle blankets - these are perfect for so much. Swaddling, NIP, changing mat for friends and family's houses.

    Boppy.

Moby Wraps - A is fussy when we're out sometimes, but if I wrap him up tight in the Moby he falls right to sleep and I can finish whatever we're out doing.

Rainforest Bath Tub - The sling feature is perfect for him right now.  His head doesn't wobble all over and I'm not afraid that he'll fall to the side and hit his head on the edge of the tub.

Halo Sleep Sacks - The benefit of a zippered sleeper, but none of the fuss with the feet.
