I'm tossing around the idea of sandwich platters maybe from Subway. Or I may just put cold cuts out with different breads. I don't want to do the typical italian beef or burgers and hot dogs since we'll be having that a lot at parties this Summer.
What's your menu?
Re: Menu for 1st birthday?
I like the idea of sandwiches or cold cuts.
We already had our parties. We did pizza for one, and bbq for the other. But I agree.. BBQ gets old after awhile!
If you have a costco near you, they make awesome sandwich platters for very reasonable.
we are doing a bbq for lo's bday and having a sandwich platter too, as we have a few guests who don't eat red meat or hot dogs

Our party is tomorrow - My DD is already turning 1 tomorrow, yikes!
We're having sloppy joes, pb&j for the kids (cut into flower shapes to go with our theme), fruit skewers with grapes watermelon and cantaloupe cut into balls, puppy chow, chips and dip, a chicken salad, deviled eggs...
Sandwich platters from Subway or any sub place (Jimmy Johns is good, as is Cousins) are a good thing. You can buy big bags of chips or make pasta salad to go with. And there's not a lot of work put into the food.
I'd price it out as far as the sandwich platters versus buying bread, cold cuts, cheese, and condiments (mayo, mustard, etc) from the grocery store and go with whatever is cheapest.
Not sure what we're going to do yet, but that's a good idea.
we are making pizza "pops" like these
https://www.artisanbreadinfive.com/2009/09/01/pizza-on-a-stick
fruit skewers
some kind of chips and dips
cake
MAYBE hot dogs too
We're doing
pulled pork sandwiches in the slow cooker
baked beans in the slow cooker
corn bread
corn on the cob (too much corn??)
coleslaw
veggie tray w/ cheese dip
fruit tray
cake & cupcakes
cookies
I am so jealous that 'italian beef' sandwiches are typical party fare where you are from. You just made me very hungry.
I think we are going to get Chick-Fila party platters. But I am still in denial that DS2 is turning 1.
Working on LO's birthday event so far, my husband and i came up with a full day of soccer at a local park, I will be ordering 1 regular cake and 1 smash cake. Will be making Orange smoothies, veggie stick with cucumber yogurt dip, variety of fresh sliced fruits with chocolate pudding dip, and maybe some turkey bacon pin wheel sandwiches with spinach, tomato, cucumber yogurt.
For the adults: spicy grilled pineapple burger or grilled Mai Mai served with a bed spinach and fruit salad.
Dessert: Grilled pineapple drizzled with warm nutella, and chopped hazelhut and whipped cream
Drinks: Pina Coladas, etc.
