  • Girl, it gets easier...so try not to stress! When mine were a lot younger...I just spent a lot of time on the floor...my DS was always satisfied with that even if I wasn't 100% playing with him. And as they get older...it bececomes a breeze. Just give him a ton of attention when LO is napping and just be silly with him whenever possible. That's what worked for me...oh, and DH would sometimes take DS out alone when he would get home from work to do something special like ice cream or something...which I loved bevause I could focus on the new one without distraction.

The attention game is always going to be a balancing act, but believe me- you're noticing it more than they ever will. Don't stress yourself too much. I just make sure I give special one-on-one time to each of them while the other is sleeping. I also put DD is her bouncy seat a lot in DS room. That way I can play with DS, but then lean over to coo & smile at DD.

  • Hang in there-it will get easier over time, promise!

Just try to dedicate as much time as your oldest that you can. When the baby naps, play with #1. At that age, I'd also get on the ground while I fed the baby and play with DS one handed. I sing songs a lot too, talk to him, etc if I dont have my hands free to tend to him.

  • I feel the same way, and DS still gets lots of attention, just less from me. We're only 2 weeks or so ahead of you on the 2U2 bus, so hopefully as our newborns age they will allow us more time to spend with your bigger kids!

  • Mine are 21 months apart (and if my math skills serve me correctly, that's about the same as yours) - its hectic, but you get used to it.

And it will get FUN later on (I'm being serious).  You have so much to look forward to.   It's awesome to watch them bond, and teach each other things.   At this point, they are starting to interact with each other, and aren't constantly demanding my attention all the time.
