Oxygen at home babies

How long was your baby on oxygen at home? Sam is doing well. The follow-up clinic told us to hold him at 1/8th a liter he came home on, but with the advice of our visiting nurse we have him weaned down to 1/32nd. He can go HOURS with no O2, but I don't want to chance taking him off all together.

His pedi says his lungs look and sound clear and his blood work has always come back great. So I guess my question is.. how long did it take to get LO off the oxygen?

LO was on home oxygen for 3.5 months. Our neo follow-up doctor had us take the weening really slowly. His eyes were mature by that point so I don't believe there was any risk to too much oxygen by then.

  • 4 weeks on 1/16th-1/32nd.  They did a sleep study and determined he was good to go :)  We live in Denver, so oxygen is somewhat normal for late term preemies.

  • We were sent home on 1/32, and at 7 months we are on it only at night. I am ready to get the oxygen out of our house. We have "test" nights without it and so far so good. I am more and more comfortable everyday with it being gone because she is doing so well.
