Single Parents

Great article

This is really long but worth at least skimming if you have a few minutes:

I am thinking that single parents might be especially prone to this, or at least I know that I am.  I tend to "baby" Caro because her dad is barely involved so I feel like I have to make up for it, or something.  Thoughts?  Anyway, I just wanted to share it.

Re: Great article

  • Loved it!  I work at a university and many of the students do have the problems described.  I talk to way more over-involved parents than I should.  Thanks for sharing.

  • I actually see my mom doing this more than me.  I remind her that we need to work as a team to discipline P and that I don't want him growing up spoiled.  The last thing I would EVER want is to feel sorry for him, or have others feel sorry for him, because his dad is MIA.  He's got TONS of love in his life and isn't lacking in any way.  I don't want to make him feel like he needs special babying because his dad is a douche.
