We like fitteds overnight, and the Sustainablebabyish (Sbish) snapped ones have a soaker that snaps in the front, so one layer can be folded to the front to double up for a tummy sleeping boy. Pretty darn absorbent!
I've recently encountered a similiar situation with our DS: heavy wetter, tummy sleeper.
This is what I've tried for the past 2 nights and it seems to be working: Fuzzibunz one size (with the recommended elastic settings on legs and waist) stuffed with the following- large microfiber insert on top, then a Thirsties duo hemp/cotton prefold size 1, then a Babykicks Joey-Bunz hemp insert side Medium on bottom. Yes, it makes for a bulky diaper, but it seems to work. He's up once a night to nurse for about 7 minutes and I check him then and have not had to change him since switching to this. When I get him up in the AM, still no leaks.
Our DS is 11mths and 23 lbs so I love the Fuzzibunz for their adjustable size options.
