Update: Stomach Pain

Last night DD went down at her normal time only to wake up an hour later screaming.  After 2.5 hours I looked at DH and said, I am not going through this again, and we headed to the ER at Children's.  Long story short, they did nothing.  The ER doc deferred to GI, the same GI that I cannot get into until August 16th.  The ER doc spoke to the GI Fellow who prescribed suppositories and Alimentum.  Clearly when I answered their questions about poop they did not listen when I said she pooped twice that day and poops daily.  And even more evident they failed to listen when I told them that we had tried Alimentum and Neocate and it made the reflux worse and she was fussier.  No x-ray, no nothing.  And when they examined her and felt her belly she cried. Yea...I got nothing.  So basically I gave up the potential for a few hours of sleep.  I am not happy at all. 

 I decided to do an elimination diet.  I know the formula is not the issue, so I am going to go back to basics on her baby food and only offer one food options like sweet potato, etc.  I would eliminate the purees except that it has been great for normalizing her poo and for reducing some of her reflux.

How extremely frustrating!!   Hopefully the elimination diet will help at least a little..  I'm sorry L, this totally stinks. =(

I didn't get a chance to post on your other one yesterday. I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I hope they can get you in earlier then expected and some answers can be found.

I know Children's is the best, but maybe get a second opinion?  This absurd!  My thoughts are with you. So sorry you guys are having to deal with this.

So sorry you are not getting any answers =(  I think the toughest thing about being a parent is knowing your child is in pain and not being able to do much about it.  Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers and hope everything gets worked out soon.

That's horrible! You know what I would do? Same thing you did last night, next time it happens, but tell them your not leaving until you have some answers and a treatment plan.

Oh, honey, I am so sorry!  I cannot believe how unhelpful they are!  How in the world do they expect your poor little girl to suffer like this until August 15th?!?!  I feel truly awful that on top of struggling with her tummy pain, you've now had this LOVELY experience at the ER.  I hope your elimination diet will at least get her some relief.  Good luck mama!

How frustrating!  I know this might sound weird (and like the least thing you want to do), but I'd head down there to the ER again when it happens again.  Be in their face.  You may not get any answers until someone finally listens to you.  It may just take getting the right doctor who is working that day/night and sees you.  I hate to say it, but I've seen it work this way...  Hang in there and I hope she is feeling some relief today!

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this! It's horrible when your child is suffering and you can do nothing! I'm keeping your family in my thoughts, and hoping you find answers and relief soon!

A friend of mine has a son who was expierenceing extreme tummy pain and for the longest time they thought it was reflux. He was just diagnosed last week with Celiacs disease. Ita a gluten allergy. maybe you could have her tested for that?

Can you go to another doctor? It seems like Children's isn't taking you seriously as a mother. My pedi (who isn't at Children's) says that you never discount what the mother has to say because she is more often times than not dead on with her assessment of the situation. They aren't with M all the time, so they have no clue what you know.
