Cyst on ovaries....?

So I went for my first U/S today and everything looked great except that there is a cyst on my ovaries. I've had previous ovarian cysts and one that burst but I'm just kind of nervous to know if it's something that I need to worry about or not. I have to follow up with my OB but I've been googling things and it starting to really worry me.....anyone have/had this happen??
TIA!

I had ovarian pain during ovulation, had an u/s, was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst (it had "debris" in it so there was a chance I had endometriosis).  2 weeks later I got a BFP; I had an early u/s to make sure the pregnancy wasn't tubal, and now I have a healthy one year old :)

  • Around week 10-12 of my first pregnancy I had an ovarian cyst rupture.  It was probably the most painful thing I've ever felt.  I was terrified and sick the following day.  The baby I was pregnant with is now my fabulous two year old!  Hopefully your cyst will not interfere with baby and everything will be fine.

  • I had my 6 wk US last week and had 2 cysts. I was told not to worry, hopefully and often they shrink and don't interfere. Please don't worry, I'm not. If it becomes an issue I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

  • My dr saw a golf ball size cyst on my right ovary during my first u/s too. I have had cysts in the past (they're not pleasant, but almost never harmful.)

She said it's actually pretty common for the follicle that released that egg that is now your baby to form a cyst in early pregnancy. While it can be uncomfortable, It's nothing to worry about. They almost always reabsorb on their own.

Same here....had a fairly large one first time around.  I was told it could be harmful to the pregnancy if removed.  It's like the pregnancy needed it since it was there.  I still had it at 20 some weeks when I had a scan.  I would not worry.  i was never told anything scary when it was detected.

  • I have two cysts on my ovary from using Clomid.  My RE told me no sex and no exercise except leisurely walking until they've shrunk.  I don't have another u/s for 2 weeks, so I'm taking it easy until then.  I've had a ruptured cyst, too and it was the worst pain of my life.  You are also at risk for a torked ovary, which needs surgery to correct and is just as painful as a ruptured ovary.  I would take it easy until you talk to your ob.

I was reading a lot about possible surgery and I think that's what got to me. I'll try to take it easy as much as I can but I stay at home with DD all day. Thanks again!!!

  • Whenever you ovulate, the spot in the ovary where the egg came out is always a cyst for a little while. When you get pg, you have a lot more hormones in your body and the cyst grows because of those. It is actually very common for pg women to have very large ovarian cysts in the 1st tri. I had one with DS and it was so big, they couldn't even see the ovary for the cyst. It was moderatly painful at times but when I hit 2nd tri and my hormones evened out, it shrank. By my 20 week u/s, it was gone. Even with the pain, the doc was never worried about it. She actually said it was a good sign and meant that I had all the right hormones surging in my body. At my 1st u/s with this LO, I had another cyst but it wasn't the mammoth I had with DS. You should be fine. You may get some discomfort on the side with the cyst from time to time.

  • I have a large cyst on my ovary also. I go see a follow up doctor today. My doc said it will be fine, usually goes away on its own but to keep an eye on it.
  • At my u/s 2 weeks ago it showed I had a cyst. My MW didn't seem very concerned and just scheduled me for another u/s in 4 weeks to recheck it. I have had cysts pre-pregnancy and never known they were there unless I was having some type of medical scan. Hope this one goes away without notice also. However I am not complaining about an additional u/s!
