I know I am not pregnant yet, but I keep reading about uterine ruptures, and was getting slightly concerned. But I just found out that that was the cause of my friend's moms RCS. It really made me feel better, since I see that she and baby are fine. And that was over 25 years ago.
Re: Uterine Rupture
The risk of uterine rupture is less than 1%, and many many of those are not life or death situtations. Many of them do not even happen during labor and are not a result of VBAC... there is a chance any time you've had a C/S.
You should also keep in mind that 25 years ago, your friend's mom probably did not have the bikini incision or double sutures, which would make her far more likely to have a UR.
I flat out had a doctor tell me that any woman regardless of birth history can have her uterus rupture. Same doctor also told me that scars heal thicker than the tissue around them to strengthen that area in case of repeat trauma.
I also agree with PPs. Things are different now.
This makes me feel so much better, too! I have my moments of worrying! =P
Thank you.
