30 Day Shred - Who's Interested?

I go in for a check-up at 4 weeks postpartum, and plan to start the 30 Day Shred after that.  Is anyone interested in joining me?  I'd like to start on July 1st; this should give those who don't have the video time to get their hands on a copy.  I bought it a couple of days ago on walmart.com for $6.96, and it's pretty cheap on Amazon (for the DVD or download).

I could definitely use some accountability when it comes to working out, so committing to 30 days of torture will be easier if a few other May mamas will join me!

Re: 30 Day Shred - Who's Interested?

  • I have it and did it before getting pregnant.. it's awesome! Intense, but a great workout! I plan on starting as soon as I have my 6 week checkup, so July 1 is great! :)

I've heard really great things about it!  Eventually, I'd like to try P90X, but I am way too out of shape to start there.

I'll make a list of those who express interest so we'll know who's participating, and post again closer to July 1st to remind everyone.  ;)

  • I'm in. I did Day 3 today.

What I need is some accountability for my food.

  • I'm in. I go for my 6 week check up tomorrow and plan to begin exercising if I'm cleared to do so, starting with walking and jogging. I'm in the same boat as you - not a whole lot of weight to lose, but some serious toning to do. I can't fit into my pre-preg jeans and I didn't gain much during pregnancy! I'll wait and start with 30 Day Shred with you on the 1st because I know I'm much more likely to do it if I have someone to hold me accountable!

Wow, good for you!  And the food thing is an issue here as well, but I'm way too afraid to post what I'm eating for everyone to see...

I was in Week 3 of P90X when I found out I was pregnant its definitely not what you want to start out doing they are pretty intense workouts. But after a couple weeks after I back in the swing of exercising I plan to start it back.

Is there any equipment, such as weights, you need to do the 30 day shred?

As far as I know, you just need two dumbbells.  The fitness instructors in the video use 5 pound weights, but I've heard that can be really heavy to start out and that some people just use soup cans.

Yeah, 5lbs weights are wayyyy too much for me. I did this video a couple years ago and loved it. I got a couple small hand weights from Target - I think they were each 2lbs and that was plenty for me!

  • just did day 1 today - so I'm in!!

I'm tracking my weight and measurements as well so that in case I don't lose too much weight I won't be disappointed with the results :)

Great idea to get a support group together!!!

  • I'm in! I have most of JM's dvds and I love them!
  • I did it last summer and it definitely works! I would suggest that if you aren't used to weights you start out very slowly on it or not at all because your arms may be too sore to wrangle the baby! I would join you but I don't go for my 6 week check up until after July 8th and I have no desire to workout more than walks yet because I feel great until I over walk and realize the vag still doesn't like too much exertion!

  • I started Monday.... The first few days are tough, but the soreness is finally wearing off now! I don't know how they can use 5 lb dumbbells, I using soup cans and feeling the burn! I feel so out of shape!
  • I'm impressed with all of you who have already started!  For those of you who are wanting to begin on July 1st, keep an eye out for a post the day before or so!  For those who are already doing it, feel free to post tips/suggestions for the rest of us.  :)

I'm starting on Monday after my 6 week check up. My booty needs some serious help.

How many days a week do you do it? 5?

7 days a week!! It's only 20 minutes, so it's not that bad! Hard to keep going at first, but after 4 days, it's getting better! (I started Monday)

  • im interested but ive never heard of it...is it just a video? how long are the workouts? does it come with a food plan too?

Oh, ha!  No wonder I didn't see life changing results last time I tried it (3x/week).

It's a Jillian Michaels DVD of 20 minute daily work-outs.

  • I'm in too, I don't get my 6wk checkup until 9wks because my OB office is stupid. But my discharge orders said to take it easy for the first 2 wks, so I feel comfortable exercising now. When I was preg DH kept saying how he would watch LO while I went to the gym, and I told him a few days ago that I want to start going. He hasn't offered to watch her yet, but I haven't asked specifically. Maybe with this DVD I wont have to. You better make sure I do it every day!
