VBAC

Late Intro Here

Hello,

I?m usually a lurker here, but I thought I might say hello and tell my story. My son was born Sept 08 because of CPD, after trying for 24 hrs. + to induce labor. My C-Section was a nightmare, no drugs during because he was emergency -- they lost his heart rate. Recovery was terrible, morphine and an infected incision. Well I am due with our second son July 8th and really desire a VBAC. My group of doctors is on board and feels I am a good candidate. The problem is my LO is already approx. 8.5+ and because of the size the group of Docs doesn't want me to go past my EDD. I have started all the natural inductions and made appointments for the next three Fridays to have acupuncture to try and induce. Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks J Laura

Re: Late Intro Here

  • Welcome and good luck! My c/s baby was 7.5 lbs, and I had several midwives tell me YDD was "huge" and would be "waaaaay bigger than her sister." She weighed just one ounce more. You never know!
  • I don't have any natural induction ideas-but I would encourage you to stand up for yourself and if you're not in labor by your EDD to tell your doctor you are waiting for labor and not doing a RCS for suspected large baby.

  • How late to go is the question then. I was 10 days late with my first, so 10 -14 days with this pregnancy? I feel so ignorant, but I am determined to attempt a VBAC! Especially because my husband and I are both Active Duty in the AF and he won't get any paternity leave :(

How late to go? My group says 7 days... what is the longest one should go past an EDD?

    Thanks so much.

  • There's really no rule. You will find people willing to go a month or more over and others who sign up for a c/s at 39 weeks. With so many different pregnancies, previous experiences, judgments of risk, etc. everyone has their own "should" here, yk?

I went 7 days after my EDD with my first, and 2 days with my second. My care providers and I would have been willing to go 14 days over, but I had no complications.
