I've only ever had comforters. Do you have to get a duvet that's exactly the same size as the cover? A little smaller/bigger? We're going to have to get a King and the only King comforter we have is way too big for the king duvet cover, so I just don't know if I need to try to find one exactly the same size as the cover or not. TIA!
Re: how does a duvet cover work?
You get the same size. the cover is jsut like a pretty envelope
Just don't go to ikea and get a king size and expect it to fit in a non ikea duvet cover. they aren't the same size and however many times you turn the blanket, it'll never fit correctly and you'll forever be sad you bedding has lumps around the edges
ooh, that's smart. we have a king size bed so that wouldn't work, but our king duvet definitely doesn't fill our king duvet cover. It's a little annoying, but i still like having the duvet cover option that easily will fit in our washing machine!
which reminds me, all your new bedding talk this morning has got me thinking i need a new cover for the spring!
weird, i've never not had the duvet fit in the cover perfectly, unless it was mixed with ikea.
Maybe I'm buying a different insert than the others. I'm not buying a regular comforter type blanket, it's a specific insert for the duvet cover.
Ditto. We have a Queen cover over an Ikea Queen duvet and it (the duvet) is too small. It drives me bonkers but I'm too cheap to fix it.
