Re: *****Weekly PG Check-In*****
**Yay! I'm on the boards today and get to reply to this in real-time, instead of a day or 2 after the fact!!**
QOTW: I'm a slacker this pregnancy. I had loaned a bunch of my books to my neighbor when she was pregnant, and when I announced I was preganant (2 weeks after her baby was born), she gave them back to me but I haven't opened them yet. She also gave me her copy of "Your Pregnancy Day By Day", which is really really cool, and I've been trying to keep up with that, but I'm about 2 weeks behind. The only other thing I'm reading is my BabyCenter app for iPhone. And even that I only look at once or twice a week. I am SO much busier this pregnancy, which goes without saying, I guess, when you already have a toddler, but even at work and other activities I'm much busier. There's just no time for reading or preparing! I haven't even looked at one nursery picture for inspiration - in fact, we haven't even really talked about which room to make into this baby's nursery. *Sigh* - second child syndrome already starting...
In general, I'm doing great. It's been a while since I've had any real nausea, and I'd figured out it was mostly happening if I took my vitamins in the morning without eating anything. So I've been taking them at night, since I can't always manage to get breakfast in me right away. I had my 12-wk appt last week and heard the HB on the doppler, then on Monday we saw the perinatologist and had the NT Scan (which was perfect - 1.5mm). I'm in full-time maternity pants now, I've just given up trying to squeeze into regular pants, and I'm much happier for it. I guess that's about it.
When 3 Became 4
QOTW: So far I've made it through Husband Coached Childbirth, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, and The Baby Whisperer. We are almost done with our Bradley classes, so that counts for some learnin' right? Next up is the Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child book.
Update: Sparky is growing right on schedule per the PA at my appointment on Monday. He's been causing me some rib pain when he stretches out, but nothing really to complain about. Work is getting really really hectic, so I hope the stress doesn't make him want to evict himself early. That would not be good, for so many people involved. Just 8 more weeks until I am working at home and don't have to get dressed in the morning!
Congrats Bluestreet!
QOTW: I've been trying to read Your Pregnancy Week-by-Week again (my copy from DD), but I haven't done a very good job of keeping up. I did sign up to receive the weekly updates from Babycenter again, and I do read those...oh well!
Updates: I'm definitely feeling much better than I did in early in the pregnancy. Heartburn and indigestion have made their debut and I'm having all sorts of belly tightness and stretching and pulling that I didn't have last time. Other than that, I feel good. I think I'm going to need to switch to maternity stuff soon, as I'm finally getting something that kind of looks like a baby bump and some of my clothes are fitting a little snug. I think I'm starting to feel the baby move, but it's not a daily thing just yet. We're super excited because we have our big u/s sound tomorrow. I can't wait to see the baby again and to hopefully found out what we're having! I also can't believe how fast this pregnancy is moving along. Whoa!
Question of the week:
What baby/pregnancy related books are you reading/have read?
Wait...wha? I'm supposed to be reading books? lol... I made an attempt at What to Expect When You're Expecting but it was very piecey for me and seemed to keep skipping around so I didn't get very far. I want to go look for a good book to read. I did read Belly Laughs maybe 4 or so years ago...does that count?

Updates: How is everything going? Please share any updates you might have, including a recent bump pic!
Everything is going great (again, I think!)....I still cannot feel the little thing in my belly but I s'pose it is still in there doing its thing. I'm dying with anxiety as we find out the sex on Friday. It's been incredibly hard because we have a small portable sono machine downstairs in radiation and I know they could look and tell me but I'm holding out for BF to be there so we can find out together. You can bet that I'm going to be out doing at least 1 of my registries on Saturday.
QOTW: this time i haven't read a single book. oops. i have been reading my weekly babycenter emails though. last time i read, girlfriends guide to pregnancy, what to expect, exercising through your pregnancy. I did throw a copy of this breastfeeding book in my hospital bag that i found helpful last time. i figured i'd have time to read in the hospital.
Updates: I had some progress at my last appointment and am hoping with all the BH and small contractions i've been having this week i'll have some more progress at my appointment on friday. although i'm fully prepared to go overdue like last time. we've still got some big decisions to make re: circumcision and induction so i'm in no rush. although i finally think i've got everything ready enough for him to come. DD keeps asking me every morning and afternoon when i'm going to go get baby brother. so she's ready!
Congrats Bluestreet!
QOTW: I haven't read anything yet this time around. Does anyone have any reccs? I read Belly Laughs and Your Pregnancy Week by Week last time (I'll probably read Your Pregnancy Week by Week again this time). I didn't really ever like WTEWYE.
Updates: I've started to get waves of nausea and some serious food aversions. I haven't been able to stomach any kind of meat the past two days. The only things that sound good are fruit, yogurt, cereal & PB&J sandwiches.
I have my first appt tomorrow, so that's pretty exciting. Then I'll have another appt at 8 weeks.
DH and I have decided to find out the sex of the baby (we were debating being team green). So far I think we're having another boy because my symptoms are pretty similar to the last time around.
Congrats, Bluestreet! I didn't see your post until a couple of days late but your daughter is beautiful and I LOVE her name.
QOTW: We have too many books! I'm regularly reading Your Pregnancy Week by Week and the Hypnobirthing book, plus the Babycenter and Fit Pregnancy emails. Off and on, I pick up Happiest Baby on the Block, So That's What They're For, and Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child. Plus we have 3 or 4 baby name books I still look through a lot since we have no clue what we would name a baby boy.
Updates: Still feeling great, just getting exhausted pretty easily these days. I slept for 6 hours straight last night and it was freaking glorious! I'm so over getting up to pee so much, although luckily I have been able to fall back asleep right away so far. It's still annoying. Work has been really stressful lately, I'm glad my days here are nearing an end. I am still amazed that there is a tiny human being growing inside of me.
We are about to have a serious baby explosion. I've only got 3 months left, and I'm still 18 down on the list!
QOTW: I'm reading a pregnancy week by week this time but that is it. I read a ton of books last time and don't really feel the need to do it again.
Update: I'm having a ton of BH and its killing me. By the afternoon I feel like my belly is pretty much just rock hard for the rest of the day and its so uncomfortable because my abs and back feel like they have serious muscle fatigue/burn - if everything wasn't so stretched out (and covered with a layer of fat) I'd probably have a six pack. Really hoping this doesn't keep up for the next 3 months!
Hey guys! I can't believe we're down another week! This is going by quickly. I can't wait to see all these new babies - we should organize a monster play date!
Question of the week:
What baby/pregnancy related books are you reading/have read?
I've been reading What to expect when you're expecting but I don't really like it very much. I feel bad that I wasted my money on it. I also have an ipregnancy app that is really informative and the babycenter app. AND I was flipping through my husband's embryology textbook which was really cool.
Update - I had a little scare the other day so I got an ultrasound and the baby was doing really well! Its crazy to see how much it grows in just a few weeks. My anatomy scan is on July 5th!
I would like to be added, please
Bump/Nest name is Ricola, EDD is 12/27 and we will have our anatomy scan on 07/27 and are finding out the sex.
QOTW: I am reading the Mayo Clinic Guide to a healthy pregnancy and like it. I am also reading 2 German books that my mum and BFF sent me.
Update: We had our NT scan yesterday and the u/s part is looking pretty good! Baby measured 4 days ahead and had a heart beat of 164 bpm. The NT measured 1.6 mm, which is considered normal. It was so cool to see it doing flips and wiggling around! MH had only seen it at our first u/s at 6 weeks, when it was just a white line, so seeing a "real baby" in there had him in tears. The b/w results will be back in about a week and then we will get our complete results as well.
QOTW: i got a book from my sister, titled I'm Pregnant! i've been reading a little here and there, but most of my reading has been online and learning from all of you.
we found a dresser at furniture in the raw yesterday that is a good height for a changing pad but also well made so the kid can grow up with it. we also got a replacement guest bed, so we can finally set up that room and clear out the nursery.
so i notice my belly is rock hard every now and then. i'm guessing this is braxton hicks? i don't actually feel it tighten, and it's not uncomfortable. just random and strange every now and then when i'm used to more of a squishy feel. haha.
another week and a half until i take the glucose test. yum!
Update: The morning sickness has set in.
At least I haven't thrown up but I've had some gagging and nausea off and on throughout the day. I was getting really bad headaches pretty often but this week they seem to be settling down, thank goodness. My next appt is July 6 and I can't wait to get to hear the heartbeat. (Or, see it since she said the way my uterus is tilted we may not be able to hear it.)
QOTW: I have a bunch lying around the house that I just pick up whenever. Your Pregnancy and Birth, What to Expect, Raising Baby Green and Hypnobirthing.
QOTW: Uhh I started reading a couple...I think I got a few pages in and my ADD kicked in.
Update: I have a week left and that seems like too long now. This baby feels huge, and every time he moves its pretty uncomfortable. All of the pain is totally worth it, I'm really excited to meet our little man. BUT, the longer he stays in the more nervous I am about giving birth. His head was measuring 40 wks 5 days at my 35 week appointment. The doctor said he won't make me labor long without progress because he's unsure of whether or not LO will fit, since my body is on the smaller side. I have an appointment later today, so we will see if the contractions have helped me make any progress. As of last Monday he was still comfy, but at least the doctor could feel the head right away. DH & I are hoping the full moon tonight will make LO come out to play.
Bump picture was taken last week at 38 weeks exactly
QOTW: I've read Belly Laughs. I'm reading the week by week pregnancy book and WTEWYE.
Update: I'm almost officially out of my 1st trimester (But close enough!!) and I've recently started gagging! It's so not fun. I was lucky enough to not experience the whole effects of morning sickness but I will really be glad when I can go 30 minutes without gagging. I had the NT Scan yesterday. Everything looked great and I will get the blood test results back in about a week or so. My next drs appointment is on the 23rd and then we can schedule our big ultrasound. I'm excited!
Update: I got the dreaded DX of GD last week (don't think I've mentioned it yet) and went to our class at the hospital yesterday, ::sigh::. I'm a little bummed but oh well, what can you do? I know it took us a while to get this far so a lil GD for the next 10 weeks will be nothing. And um, 10 weeks till me EDD! Yikes!
QOTW: I was so good about reading last time but I am seriously slacking this time. I only read the weekly baby center emails!
Update: I can't believe I'm so close already! (Although I'm mentally preparing myself to go overdue again). We had our 37-week sonogram this week and the baby was estimated to be 6 lbs 10 oz (which is average) and I'm measuring correctly now (37 inches). Still no progress at all though. My parents are coming into town next week and my dr will be on vacation until 5 days before my due date so I'm in no rush :-)
