Austin Babies

anyone in nanotechnology?

Are there jobs here in Austin? I did a quick google and found Applied Nanotech, but that was it. Do any of you have connections and/or work in a nanotech field?

I have a friend whose DH is working on his postdoc now in physics/nanotech and Austin is on their short list of places to live. I'd looooove to get her down here b/c I know she would love it, but if the jobs aren't here, well...

TIA for any info you have!

Re: anyone in nanotechnology?

  • I totally read the subject line as "anyone interested in nanotechnology" and was all, heck yes! That shizz is cool! But I'm guessing my minor in physics as an undergrad doesn't really qualify me to answer your actual question.
    Dear Bump: You suck.

And I saw that you replied and got all buttciced that you knew someone who knew someone who was the head of something that made little things.

    disappointment.

  • speaking of it being cool, though, I was just googling him to see what kind of work he does (specifically) and while he was working on his phd, he was making...wait for it...

  • My dad used to work in Business Development (getting businesses set up with plans and capital, etc) for hi tech/science companies some of which were in nanotech, but they were all research based (as seems to be the case with such new technology). Most of who he worked worked directly in conjunction/with grants from (and out of ) the UT J.J P.I.C.K.L.E. Re se arch C ent er. I just found this link which might provide more outlets for information and contacts for possible opportunities.

I used to work for Tokyo Electron (semiconductor manufacturing equipment.)  I know most of the guys in their nanotechnology/emerging technology departments.  If you want some connections, send me an e-mail and I can see what I can do.
