f/u to my FFFC post

I was worried that I am a bad mother for not throwing an estravagant birthday party for my 4y.o. but making kids decorate corncakes in school instead. It turned out fine, and I don't think he knows the difference yet. This is a bear on a float and there is sand and beach towel on the other side of the corncake. I didn't have enough green candy for the palm tree so a few trees were yellow and red. As some of you pointed out, the frosting and candy is "unhealthy", but they let me bring them in anyway.

  • so, my kids aren't old enough to be in school yet, but they REALLY aren't allowed to bring in sugary birthday desserts anymore? I get that we need to help our kids be healthier, but it's a birthday for pete's sake!  I am all for keeping down on the sweets but anything in moderation is fine. I'm glad they at least let you have the frosting and candy!

  • I assume it's more about not having 25 kids hyped up on sugar rather than being healthy. Can you imagine being the teacher after that sugar smorgasbord? Yikes! Anyway, cute idea with the corn cakes and I think the orange palm tree looks great.

This is such a cute idea!.  I was thinking you were just going to give them frosting, and let them go (Had visions of frosting all over classroom, with hyped up kids).   I really like this.  Kudos!!

  • It's really cute! Maybe the day care where Adrian goes is more lax b/c they give the kiddos cookies as snacks once a week or so. But it's fine with me, as long as it's not a daily thing.
