nbr: TV bulb?

The lightbulb on our lcd tv is going out... what's the best place to get another one?  we bought our tv at circuit city, and they're no longer around these parts.  I'd like to find a location between here and the kenwood area as that's where I'll be these next few days.

Re: nbr: TV bulb?

  • Are you talking a LCD rear projection television?  If so, there isn't anyone local who stocks them (that I know of).  I'm in the a/v biz, Projectorpeople.com or justlamps.net is where you can order a bulb.  HTH.

  • When the back-light went out on our computer monitor I went ahead and ordered a new power board because that was what was wrong.  What make is your TV?  Samsung had a spate of bad capacitors here a year or so ago and power boards had to be changed.  You can usually see if the capacitors are bad because they are bulging.

Hmm.. I'll have to look into the other possibility.  The tv is a Samsung DLP 1080p.  Model is HL-S5087W.  We bought it in November of 2006.

    The lamp # is BP96-01472A.

I found several online, but I was hoping to find one in store for a reasonable price.  I'm pretty sure it is the lamp as the screen is darkening making it hard to see.

  • Similar to what happened to our Samsung monitor and it was the power board.  With our Samsung LCD TV it was taking a while for the TV to click on and I heard through the grapevine what the cause was so I was able to call out Samsung and they were doing a huge replacement of all power boards at the time as a one time thing.  We bought the TV in 2007.  DH says he's not sure how DLP's work but with an LCD if the back-light is going out it goes out completely not gradually.
