Tips to help seperation for camp/school

DD has been home with me and started gymnastics camp last week ( it is at the same gym where she took class) This is a one day a week half day camp.  she did not cry and loved it this week.  Today i told her we get to go again tomorrow and she told me she already did that and was "NOT GOING AGAIN" she said she was to sad and scared that i left.
Any tips/suggestions to help her?
We are doing camp and a way to prep for all day pre-k in the fall.

  • I wouldn't harp too much on the "NOT GOING AGAIN" part.  You should address her fears about you leaving and her feeling sad but nothing too deep as it would probably make her more uncomfortable about staying.  I'd stick to focusing on and talking up the good points: friends, having fun, learning new tricks and the best part of all--you coming back to pick her up!  Give her a cool surprise for staying at camp and doing a good job listening and learning.  I'd even start talking alot about school so she knows what to expect in the fall.  Better to get a head start than waiting until August comes.  GL!

  • Your post is well timed and I'm curious by the responses.  Harm started a speech program at the local college one day a week and he won't let my nanny leave him.  For now she is staying with him but I need her back at the house.  We are hoping she can maybe "sneak out" next time...

I'm really confused by his behavior.  He loves his pre-school and right now he is in Summer Camp in addition to the speech class.
