does DD nap too much?? (re:sttn)..

c/p'ing from my April board! (since it's late April! ;)  )

She had an awful night last night - up every 1.5 to 2.5 hours..  she had two GREAT nights though, on Sat/Sun night - did back to back 4 hour stretches! :)

My ? though is, based on her naps, do u think she is napping TOO much? She gets up around 7:30 or so (depends) and is down an hour later, naps for maybe an hour. Then around 12 she'll nap a good 2.5 to 3 hours - waking up once and I side-lie nurse her. (this works out AWESOME for me bc my toddler naps during this time!!!!).. then is up for an hour after that. Then naps for maybe 45 min in the late afternoon. Then bedtime is 6:45 or 7 - bc she is passing out hardcore by that time! ha!

I forget with DS how much he napped at this age - but man, he was going 6-7 hour stretches at this age - I KNOW you can't compare, but it's so stinking hard not to!

Do u think she naps too much/long??

  • The naptimes sound pretty  normal to me.  My LO has one short (1 hour) morning nap, another for 2.5-3 hours, then the same for the afternoon.  We start getting her ready for bed around 7 and she's down by 7:30 or 8.  I think it's normal for them NOT to sleep 6-7 at night at this point. = )

Ditto. And napping at least 1 hour out of every 3 is normal at this stage.

  • I think every kid is different and you just have to find out what works. My DS will never naps over an hour during the day.
  • Your sleep pattern seems normal to me. My LO sleeps 5hrs at night in a row, then another 2-3hrs and still naps most of the day. He's up for most of the morning, then sleeps most of the afternoon after feedings and then is up again part of the evening to fuss. All in all, I'd say he's up maybe 6hrs during the day total. Someone said in a post yesterday that sleep begets sleep and I believe that. They'll sleep when they need to, and if it happens to be during the day, so be it.
