So my brother is getting married this coming weekend in VT and it's about a 12 hour drive from where I live. My DH and DD will be leaving Thursday to drive through the night. Does anyone have any advice of tips for long trips with a LO?
LO pretty much dictates how often to stop. My DD hated our first long distance trip (and so did I). Eventually I just had to let her cry so we could get to our destination. I made sure she was fed and changed every time we stopped. We also walked around, stretched (yes I stretched/massaged my DD), and got some fresh air. Also, even with the A/C on and wearing only a onesie DD was dripping with sweat, so make sure you don't overdress LO. My DD uses a paci but the thing kept falling out of her mouth and I had no way to reach it to put it back in her mouth. Not sure if there is even a way to address that but that was one of my frustrations.
When DS was 8 weeks old we drove from upstate NY to Minnesota (24 hours total). We took a lot of stops. That is really all you can do. We also bought the car pump adapter since I was breastfeeding, and a cooler.

I will second PPs with dressing LO in only a onesie and the car pump adapter. It is easier for us to pump and then give LO a bottle instead of stopping for the 30 minutes it takes to feed. Also be prepared for the trip to take quite a bit longer than you expect. Before Silas, DH and I could make our weekly 4 hour trip in 4 hours, now we are lucky to get there in 4.75 hrs Good Luck!

we are taking DD to georgia from chicago at the end of the month (11 hours w/o a baby lol)...we are just planning on stopping every 2 hours to get her out of the car seat and get some fresh air. We're leaving super early and just going to take our time.
and keep our fingers crossed that all goes smoothly lol
