Awake ALL DAY?

Violet is just over 2 weeks old, and she's sleeping fabulously at night.  But yesterday and today, she has been awake all day and insists on being held and fed the entire time!  She was awake from 9 to 4:30 yesterday, with the exception of the few minutes she'd sleep while nursing (until I'd try to put her down after).  This seems like a really long time without sleep for a newborn; has anyone else's LO been this way?

That sounds exactly like our yesterday. She slept really well through the night and it back to "normal" today. Our LC said it could be a growth spurt with the constant eating.

Madison does this at night. Lucky you get bit during the day so you can sleep nights.

Abby was like this also at first and by working to keep her up during the day, she has finally begun to shift and is now awake from 8/9 am to around 2/3 in the afternoon.  I usually get a 4 hour and than a 3 hour stretch of sleep at night with her going down around midnight.

This is how my LO has been for the past 3 days. I just got him down for a nap a few minutes ago and besides a 30 minute nap this mornng he has been awake since 7:45. The poor thing is so tired lookung but fights sleep so bad. I hope he will sleep tonight...Last night we were up every hour.

This has been me for 2 days now....3 weeks started 2 days ago-oh joy!!!

Maybe he'll at least be willing to sleep tonight at a good hour.

my little one eats every 2 hrs and is up all the time- i swear she wears me out... I am praying for the time she slows down on growing and sleeps more

I'm glad I read this since Zoe seems to have hit the 3-week spurt and seems to be fussy and hungry constantly!  She's wearing me out!!!

It will pass soon. I can always tell it was a spurt because after a few days of that madness, they will be really sleepy. See if that holds true for your kiddos.

I wondered if it could be a growth spurt.  She's also gone from eating every 3-4 hours during the day to wanting food constantly, so that makes sense!  Thanks for the responses, mamas!

I am right there with you, but unfortunately it is not a growth spurt, just a clingy baby this week.  It will pass.

The constant eating and no sleeping has been killing me since last night - she's 3 weeks tomorrow.  At least I know this is normal and not just me.  I have gotten about 45 minutes of sleep in the last 24 hours.  Hopefully, it passes quickly, cuz im bushwhacked.

That little stinker is lucky she's so cute and I love her so much, because I can't even get frustrated with that face

we are also in the middle of the 3 week growth spurt... i have my husband bringing me home chocolate and i am busting open a beer as soon as he walks in the door.
