I have a problem that almost caused me to give up. I'm not sure what is going on but the nursery smells. I mean bad. You cant go in there without it knocking you down almost. They dont smell when he first goes its just after there in the pail. I was every other day but it is still bad. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

What type of smell? Ammonia, barnyard, poop?  The type of smell will help us figure it out.  Are you using a dry or wet pail? What type of detergent do you use?

Pee/ammonia smell or something else?

Is there airflow getting to the pail?

How long have the diapers been in there?

do they smell when you take them off or just after they're in the pail?

I'm thinking its more of a barnyard smell. the pail I use has no lid so they get air flow. I wash every 2 days, and the smell is back as soon as the pail starts getting diapers in it. THey dont really smell after he goes except for the poo ones. I'm really wonder if its because its so hot and humid here. We live in the south and have been almost in the 100s for weeks.

Have you disinfected your pail?  Also, do you use a liner? If not, that might help to contain the smell.

I use the kissaluvs anti-bacterial pail liner

Hey we live in TN too, and it is soo yucky hot outside right now. We use a trash can with the step lid, once a month I wash it out with bleach and put baking soda in the bottom before I put in the liner, it really helps. We have also just used a pillow case when the liner was in the wash and that made it stink really quick.
