Hoping you ladies can help me out...My little guy turned 3 weeks yesterday and for the past 2 1/2 days he has been increasingly restless and fussy. He wants to eat ALL the time. I am pumping and bottle feeding breastmilk and yesterday he ate 37 ounces! He is also stretching his legs and back like crazy and when he does he grunts, cries, and holds his breath until his face turns bright red. I am getting so frustrated as it seems like nothing I do helps to comfort him. Also, he will only sleep for an hour at a time but seems so tired all the time.
Do you think he is going through a growth spurt? And if so, how long do these usually last?
Any ideas for what to do to make my LO more comfortable? It's breaking my heart to see him like this...
Re: Growth Spurt???
There is a three week growth spurt. My DS had two rough nights of being up every two hours to eat (instead of 3 or 4) and today seems more restless again. I'm thinking of bumping up his bottles, as he seems to be feeding much more often, I wonder if he's not getting enough.
I was told it only lasts a few days - you can do it! Good luck!
Some of the symptoms you describe sound like gas. C throws her legs up in the air, her face turns all red, and she screams and cries when she is super gassy. She will also eat a ton when she is gassy. We put her on her tummy on the floor and pat her back and it helps it come out. We also use gas drops a lot.
It could also be a growth spurt. If it is, there isn't much to do to help, just wait it out. I think they can last up to a day or two.
No clue if it was a growth spurt or not, but Ben went through a phase last week where he was acting like I've never fed him. He usually eats 3oz and chugged 6oz one night. I just fed him as much as I could- I had to supplement with a little bit of formula, but my supply has caught up now and his appetite has gotten a little more predictable.
With the leg thing, that sounds like gas or he's trying to poop.
