How would you pronounce Deirdre?

I've heard it pronounced Dee-Dra mostly...which I kind of like, but I guess I don't get the silent "r"?

I know a Deidre who gets annoyed when people think her name is Deirdre -- she says it's two different names, like Lisa and Liza.

So, after having been schooled by my Deidre, I'd say it's:

Deidre: Dee-drah

Deirdre: Deer-drah
