Re: Poll of Randomness
The best pizza toppings EVER are: Pepperoni, black olives and anchovies (yes, I'm one of THOSE people).
OMG! Ed McMahon is at the door right this instant! You've won $10 million dollars! And he's brought a video crew with him to record the moment! You don't have time to change clothes - you're stuck in what you're currently wearing. What outfit will all the people watching TV see? Jeans, a black knit top, black shoes. And unwashed hair. I'm a picture of mediocrity meets ick right now lol!
Who were your favorite authors as a preteen/teen (or just types of books, if you can't remember names)? Let's see...Joanne...something? She wrote horsey books (the Thoroughbred series, for one). Laura Ingalls Wilder - I read the Little House series a thousand times. Robin McKinley, occasionally. Sue Grafton and Joan Hess, randomly! In general, horse books, a weensy bit of sci fi, and mysteries. I wasn't allowed to read most of the "standard" stuff - like Sweet Valley High, The Babysitter's Club, etc., which my mother deemed trashy.
It's been a long day. Coworkers are annoying, boss is pushy, house is mess, your LO is fussy, and dinner is burnt. Then your DH pushes you over the edge by doing That Annoying Thing just mildly obnoxious under normal circumstances) that aggravates the crap out of you, turning you into a homicidal maniac. What's That Annoying Thing? Throws his clothes down next to the laundry basket instead of in it. Seriously? It's RIGHT THERE! Alternately, balancing a new roll of TP on top of the old empty one instead of actually changing it out. WTF is up with that?
In three words or less, sum up each of the following:
Gardening: Dirt and allergies.
Las Vegas: Shiny! Booze! Wheee!
Chocolate chip cookies: Nom nom nom...
It's been a long day, and you finally get the chance to relax in front of the tube with your favorite guilty pleasure viewing (TV or movie). What's on? Lately, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, which is in it's fourth season. It's the TV version of this (true life) blog, though sadly it doesn't look like the original - very interesting - blog is up any more. Guess she's trying to sell the books more, which I can understand.
Give me a one-sentence review of the last book you read: The Zeroes - interesting voyeuristic look into how the uber rich live(d), but the author was a weensy bit annoying with constant comments about how he didn't care about the trappings of wealth but was surrounded by people with Maybachs while he drove a dented Corolla (i.e., "I'm a little guy like you - relate to meeeee!").
And finally, because sometimes we all need a shortcut for dinner: what's your favorite convenience (frozen or take out) food? I'm not a huge fast food eater - I sometimes crave it, but because I don't eat it often, I'll feel icky after I do. There's a little place down the road that sells roast chicken, and it is DIVINE. Sometimes we'll get roasted chicken and chips from there...yum!
OOOH, you had to go there. I was supposed to go to bed early and all but I can't resist since I haven't done one of these in a while.
The best pizza toppings EVER are:
pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives

purple floral tank and grey cropped sweat pants. yikes. hope i have time to throw on a bra! :P
Who were your favorite authors as a preteen/teen (or just types of books, if you can't remember names)?
I LOVED those trashy Babysitters Club girls. Haha. Actually, I think I stopped reading those after 6th grade or so. I don't think I read much after that. Not even when we had to for school. Yet somehow I never got less than a B in English! Go figure.
It's been a long day. Coworkers are annoying, boss is pushy, house is mess, your LO is fussy, and dinner is burnt. What's That Annoying Thing?
Hmm. Come home later than I expected leaving me to bathe Kaya and put her to bed when I expected to have some "me" time.

Give me a one-sentence review of the last book you read: Mockingjay - Not as good as the first two.

I was obsessed with the Babysitters Club! I also liked Sweet Valley Twins/High.

Then your DH pushes you over the edge by doing That Annoying Thing just mildly obnoxious under normal circumstances) that aggravates the crap out of you, turning you into a homicidal maniac. What's That Annoying Thing?
Say something like "I really need to sleep tomorrow and have a relaxing day," which translates to, "Even though you never get to sleep in and I do about 50% of the time, I still will tomorrow while you get up with the kid and feed him, change him, play with him, etc., then when I finally crawl out of bed I'll complain about how tired I still am and go take a nap after being up for 2 hours."
In three words or less, sum up each of the following:
Gardening: fun, but expensive

Total chick-lit fluff to kick off summer, and sadly, Jane Green's writing isn't what it used to be.
And finally, because sometimes we all need a shortcut for dinner: what's your favorite convenience (frozen or take out) food?
Takeout from Trax, our local pub. They have an awesome BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad.....yummy!
OMG, MH totally does that, too. Between that and never closing the dresser drawers or kitchen cabinets. I always say "do we have a poltergeist in the house or what?"
Wow, I haven't done on the board in ages, but I love me some redshoegirl polls of randomness (btw, whatever happened to tgizq? )
The best pizza toppings EVER are: red sauce, bell peppers, olives, sundried tomatoes, feta cheese
OMG! Ed McMahon is at the door right this instant! You've won $10 million dollars! And he's brought a video crew with him to record the moment! You don't have time to change clothes - you're stuck in what you're currently wearing. What outfit will all the people watching TV see? Err, I just woke up so thick-lens hipster glasses (I'm practically blind), messy hair (with straight hair, it actually dones't look too bad) striped tshirt with maybe some baby spit up on it, and hula print jammy pants. Thankfully, I still wear my sleeping/nursing bra (like a thin sports bra) so no headlights on TV.
Who were your favorite authors as a preteen/teen (or just types of books, if you can't remember names)? I read Babysitters Club, SVH and such early on, but I think by the time I hit my teens I was into the classics - Dorian Gray, Of Human Bondage, you know, light reading . No, I really got into all of Michael Crichton's books (loved Jurrasic Park) and Ann Rice - vampires were in when I was in high school, none of this silly Twilight s*&t.

Give me a one-sentence review of the last book you read: Mockingjay - disapponting end to what I think was an awesome trilogy series, but now I'm obsessed over the Hunger Games like nobody's business, even worse than Harry Potter.
And finally, because sometimes we all need a shortcut for dinner: what's your favorite convenience (frozen or take out) food? Trader Joe's frozen battered fish (cod or halibut) and frozen sweet potato fries. Gotta love the oven.

i *love* pad kee mow!
The best pizza toppings EVER are:
okay, i'm a bit of a pizza snob i *love* pizza..."fancy", neapolitan-like pizza. my favorites from places around here are a clam and pancetta, a coppocola (another type of cured meat), egg, and arugula, and a rapini, italian sausage, and fresh mozz. ...drool. I'm really starting to miss pizza. and ice cream. and oatmeal choc chip mac nut cookies. and...ahem - where were we? oh right - pizza. for "regular" pizza, i don't really have any favorite toppings - i'll eat pretty much any of it.

Who were your favorite authors as a preteen/teen (or just types of books, if you can't remember names)?
I loved Anne of Green Gables and Little Women. Before that, series like BSC, The Boxcar Children, The Gymnasts, Sweet Valley Twins (never read SVH though), and also stuff by Lurlene McDaniel (had to look her up on amzn to make sure i remembered the author correctly, and eesh, the covers look awful now!)

And finally, because sometimes we all need a shortcut for dinner: what's your favorite convenience (frozen or take out) food?
before - take out from any one of many Thai restaurants. or pizza from one of the places I was thinking of above. now - erm, oatmeal? i don't know...
The best pizza toppings EVER are: mushrooms and black olives
OMG! Ed McMahon is at the door right this instant! You've won $10 million dollars! And he's brought a video crew with him to record the moment! You don't have time to change clothes - you're stuck in what you're currently wearing. What outfit will all the people watching TV see? I'm dressed for work, and since I'm going to court today I'm actually dressed professionally. Yesterday would have been a different story, it was a cleaning day - I was even semi embarrassed to leave the house to go to starbucks drive through.
Who were your favorite authors as a preteen/teen (or just types of books, if you can't remember names)? I did succumb to peer pressure and read all the SVH books, by HS I liked legal/suspense (hate them now), and mysteries. Really, anything I could get my hands on and became really interested in history beyond what is taught at school at that time.
It's been a long day. Coworkers are annoying, boss is pushy, house is mess, your LO is fussy, and dinner is burnt. What's That Annoying Thing? OMG - when I ask for help - as in the house is a disaster, dinner needs to be cleaned up, J's stuff needs to be set out for the next day - and he says "Ok, I will organize the shed/dust the tops of the storage closets/reorganize our electronics cords/alphabetize our bluerays/[insert something totally unneccesary given the immediate messes that need to be dealt with]" argh! I'm working on being able to say, please do x,y,z but then he complains because it's the same stuff over and over again - like empty the dishwasher/make the bed/wipe down J's eating area. Ummm, yeah that stuff has to happen on a regular basis!
In three words or less, sum up each of the following:
Gardening: fun + hard work
Las Vegas: nms
Chocolate chip cookies:yum yum yum
It's been a long day, and you finally get the chance to relax in front of the tube with your favorite guilty pleasure viewing (TV or movie). What's on? amazing race. but it's only on for a few months out of the year.
Give me a one-sentence review of the last book you read: just re-read Water for Elephants: entertaining but the age part is depressing and on the second read I decided the characters are pretty unlikely. BUT still a good book - no aspirations to see the movie. I have a funny story about WHY I re-read it. I somehow ended up on a bookclub's email list. I asked to be taken off but 1/2 the people never did - reply all and I get all their e-mails which only 1/2 the time end up in spam. They are in Sydney Australia and I decided I wanted to re-read their current book they were working on since it was already on my kindle. I emailed them (without saying that I now read their books) and rather than trying to remove me again, they invited me to skype in. hahaha. no thanks, but I guess I can keep reading their selections since I'm not in a book club.
And finally, because sometimes we all need a shortcut for dinner: what's your favorite convenience (frozen or take out) food? TJ's convenience foods are my norm these days. Therefore, fav takeout: a burger drive through near me with the most amazing gorgonzola onion burger and fresh cut FRIED sweet potato fries. Also a local sub sandwich shop.
HA! It's a good thing I don't like cheese or sour cream. But at least the meat is ethically raised and all that jazz.
Amazing Race is my absolute fave, but I guess I don't consider it a guilty pleasure. Because it's not "trashy". I suppose any tv is a guilty pleasure these days, though.
MH will do this too, except he'll eat in the other room in front of the tv rather than in the kitchen with us. SO annoying! Can you not take a break from the TV for 15 minutes??
The best pizza toppings EVER are: I kinda like plain cheese pizza (I'm a pizza snob and like NY style), but if I have to choose toppings, I go for ham and green pepper.
OMG! Ed McMahon is at the door right this instant! You've won $10 million dollars! And he's brought a video crew with him to record the moment! You don't have time to change clothes - you're stuck in what you're currently wearing. What outfit will all the people watching TV see? Well today I'm at work, but when I first read this yesterday, I was on my 4th change of clothes already at 9am (DS was throwing up all morning), and I had on some light blue workout pants and a white tshirt (no bra) and my crocs, and since I'm PMSing and can't stop picking at my face, have 4 huge zits that are really obvious.... yeah, not a pretty sight.
Who were your favorite authors as a preteen/teen (or just types of books, if you can't remember names)? I read Amityville Horror when I was 10 (serious, what were my parents thinking?), so shortly after that I discovered Stephen King books. He was probably my fav author around then. However, don't show me a horror movie - can't stand them. I didn't read the girly Sweet Valley High or Babysitters books either. I did read a good one called Bummer Summer that I really liked for some reason - I think b/c I liked the girl in the book - her name was Kammy and I thought that was cool. In high school it was more books I HAD to read, but I did read Catcher in the Rye on my own (it was my mom's from when she was in high school) and I really got into the Robert Ludlum spy series. I can't remember if John Grisham's stuff was out when I was in HS or college, but I really liked his stuff too.

And finally, because sometimes we all need a shortcut for dinner: what's your favorite convenience (frozen or take out) food? Oh there are way too many. Since we're in NYC there are TONS of places right around the corner. Plus an even wider circle of restaurants that deliver... so it's hard to choose just one.
The best pizza toppings EVER are: onions and mushrooms. love them both!
