NSAIFR: Update to collapsed birthday cake

I managed to save the cake-it was definitely leaning but the colours looked nice and my fondant monkeys turned out great.

  • Good, I am glad it worked out. I would have served a collapsed homemade cake over a store-bought one any day, so I am glad that's what you did!

Also, I can't believe you made fondant monkeys- wow!

  • Nice!  I'd love to see pics too.

How hard was the fondant to work with?  I am considering making a fondant dinosaur to go on top of chocolate ganache fore DS1's b-day.

  • Making homemade fondant is a PITA, but once its set, or if you buy the premade Wiltons, its just like edible playdough for grownups. My mom and I used it for my girls' 1st birthday cakes and it was fun and easy to work with.  Everything except the pale pink backgrounds is fondant.
