Anatomy Scan @ 18 weeks--too early?

This is my 2nd baby, with my first, I remember the Anatomy Scan (aka 2nd trimester u/s) being around 20 weeks.  This one is scheduled at exactly 18 weeks, I kinda feel it's too early??  I didn't have a choice in scheduling it, the doc's office basically just called and told me the date/time.  I guess everything should be easily visable, but I feel like the extra 2 weeks would help them see things better??

Has anyone had their anatomy scan at 18 weeks and had ok results?

I had mine at 18 weeks as well. The tech was able to tell us that she was a healthy baby girl:) We did have to go back the next week to see if she would roll over so that they could get all 4 chambers of her heart. However, I am sure that this could happen at any week due to the position of the baby. But, I am sure that you will be fine! My doctor said he schedules them between 18 and 20 weeks.

I read the anatomy san should be scheduled anywhere between 18-22 weeks.

It seems like every practice is different, but mine told me I could schedule it anytime between my 19th and 21st week.

My Doc does one at 18 weeks and at 22 he is awesome that way.  They would have been able to tell us the sex had we wanted to know.  Now we get to see the baby again next visit

I had mine right at 19w and they could see everything fine.  I'm sure it will be fine or they wouldn't have scheduled it.  And if they can't see everything well enough, worst case you'll just go back but i don't think that will have to happen.

I had mine at 18w 4d and the tech got all the photos with no problem. We were also able to tell the sex VERY easily - she was 100% sure!

Mine is scheduled at 16 weeks. I asked the doctor and she said she can see everything at 16 weeks and she likes to do it earlier rather than later because of the state laws for aborting. Even though she doesn't intend anyone to abort, but if something were majorly wrong she likes to have the option open.

I was scheduled at 18 weeks and they couldn't see the heart and kidneys clearly so I had a followup at 22 weeks. But I certainly didn't mind an extra ultrasound!

I think that mine may have been at 18 weeks. He was very visibly a boy and my friends was 18 weeks and the same.

I have mine scheduled for 18 weeks. I was wondering if i should push it back a week cuz id hate to go and not see anything.

ours is also going to be at 18wks, its this coming thurs.Originally it was this past thurs but they changed it since I had a u/s the week before, they are trying to do mmy u/s every other week or I'd of had it before I was even 18wks!

@ 15 weeks my peri did an ultrasound, as is the usual because I'm high risk, and they went ahead and did some of the a/s measurements that can be taken that early because they said she photographs very well (I think they just meant she's cooperative).  They also told us she is 100% a girl (tech and then dr. confirmed...we asked the chance of it being wrong and they both said very little chance at 15 weeks unless the babys being uncooperative).  I think that a/s are scheduled between 18 and 20 weeks not because the sex isn't visable, but because some of the things they're actually looking for/at aren't fully visable or ready for measurement before then and you don't have an earlier u/s to just find out the sex because many people's insurance will not cover an extra u/s.  Don't forget, the a/s isn't meant to tell you the sex it's just a big perk along with hearing the babys healthy

Mine is at 20 weeks. I have heard of people getting accurate one's as soon as 16 weeks. I would say between 18-20 weeks is okay.

I think as long as you're between 18 and 22 weeks the chance that you'll not se everything has more to do with other things... I went at 20 weeks and some change and have to go back next week to see her heart because she wouldn't roll over. If your doc scheduled it at that point they must trust their techs and machines to be able to see what they need to!

Mine is scheduled for 15w2d, because of my history.  My doctor said if we can't see everything then I will come back in a couple of weeks for another.  I think you should be able to see everything at 18 weeks.  We had our as with our daughter at 16weeks and were able to see everything.

Mine was at 17 weeks and everything was as clear as day.

Mine will be at 17 weeks, and from what I've read that's not too early.

My OB does them between 16-20 weeks.  We had an elective at 14 weeks and were able to see alomst everything at that point (including the 4 chambers of the heart). I will be about 18 weeks when I have mine based on our schedules.

My OB does them between 18 and 20 weeks.  I had mine at 19 and they were able to get everything they needed.

Mine was at 17 weeks and 5 days. Everything went fine, even got a very clear gender determination...  but we did have to come back 2 weeks later to get a few measurements that weren't clear the first time.... but pshh like I'm going to complain about seeing LO again!
