Cloth Diapering

smartipants?

I saw a video review of the smartipants OS sleeve and it looked pretty great. Anyone use them and have any opinions to share? TIA!

  • I really liked them starting out, but they run pretty small.  I do have a big baby but we were at full rise at 4 1/2 months.  The insert does agitate out but many have complained that at smaller settings, the microfiber sticks out of the pocket at touches the baby.  I am keeping them for when we have another lo since I believe they will fit sooner than other OS diapers, but they won't last too much longer with this baby and they are starting to leak before she has even worn them for 2 hours

We have a couple mixed into our BG stash, I find they fit and work very much like the BGs.  I like them, although I'm not a huge fan of snaps and these are snaps, I prefer my velcro BGs.  But they are a great price and you don't have to remove the insert to wash!  However, like pp said, on the smallest setting it's a little difficult to get the insert fitted correctly since the sleeve doesn't hold it in and the insert doesn't have snaps to keep it folded down

  • I really like ours.  I didn't start using them until dd was around 6 months, so I can't say much about the smallest setting.  DD is long and lean and these fit nicely.  I love how trim they are!  DD is almost 2 and these still fit her well.  The only complaint I have now is that, as a toddler, she pees so much more and these are hard to add a booster to so they have to be changed more often.

thanks! DS is almost 5 months now and long, so I'm glad to hear they fit your DD well. :)

  • I have a few but at 11lbs with skinny legs they are still too big for DS.

They're fine. The insert doesn't have sizing snaps, so the microfiber can touch the skin on the small and medium settings, which is a no no.

We had them and used them for probably 9 months with plenty of room to grow. I think they are a good economical option but for a heavy wetter, you would need to add more absorbency. We got rid of them because we had too many diapers and we didn't reach for them first.
