So gross...but does anyone else have a stealth pooper?

C is super obvious about it when she's making a solid poo, but the peanut butter ones are not always quite so noticeable.  In fact, it's happened several times where she's gone with zero fanfare- no noise, telltale expression, or even smell (until the diaper comes off, that is.  Then...holy stink, Batman.)  Today that happened and her poor booty was of course red since I think it happened while she was napping (on my lap) or *just* before when her diaper was still quite new.  I felt so bad, you could tell it was uncomfortable.  Anyone else's kid go through a phase like this?  I am hoping it passes soon as we keep going with more and more solid food, it's really obnoxious.  And in regards to that, at what point in the mostly milk/formula to more solids transitioning do the PB ones seem to mostly go away, and is that affected by how long you continue to BF?  TIA!

  • I almost never know when Cooper poops except for the smell.  I never see him straining and he doesn't go in a corner like some kids.  He just goes along his merry way.  Sometimes yeah it is a surprise when I change him, but usually the stink gives him away.

Are you asking when their poops become more solid?  My kids took/take FOREVER.  I remember Ben pooped about 6 times a day when he was 1 1/2.  All mashy gross stuff.  ANd Cooper isn't quite so often but his are occasionally solid but usually mashy grossness.  My kids eat a lot of fruit and veggies and beans and stuff though.  My ped said it's called "toddler diarrhea" and it's because of their diets...  It's fun.

  • both my kids are stealth poopers always have been. I think if one of them ever has a solid poo I would faint! With Eli he is potty trained so no worries. Although I lovingly cvall his poo sludge butt cause he leaves track marks in the toilet! BLECH.

Kai is also soft and squishy and he is a couple times a day pooper. He isnt potty trained yet but I cant wait for the day. peanut butter  poo I am so over!

Like Jill said, the boys eat lots of fruits and veggies and beans and little to no meat so the pedi said its normal and that its the "by product" of thier healthy diet :)

  • The more solid food she eats, the more solid her poop is. :)

  • I too had stealth baby poopers.  Rarely would I hear anything, and no turning red or any funny faces either.  Both mine were BF until 13 months.  Audrey had the runny BF poops for waaayy longer too.  Only when she became potty trained did they have any solid formation.

So sorry chica, they last a loong, long time.

  • You have all dashed my hopes quite expertly. :) I had hoped she was trending towards more solid ones since on our trip they mostly were, which was great because we didn't have sprayer access, but maybe it was a fluke/slight constipation from traveling or something. I plan to practice extended BFing to at least age 2 so I guess I'm hosed there too. :p Thanks for the feedback!
