Bedrest is the devil!

I am soooooo bored! I know I always thought that bedrest couldn't be THAT bad. Boy was I wrong. Plus my husband is the bedrest nazi and any time I get up to use the bathroom or anything he yells at me to get back to bed. Don't get me wrong, I will stay in this bed for the next 20 weeks if need be, I am just going to need to pick up a new hobby somewhere along the lines. For those of you who have been here before, what in the heck did you do to pass time?

Re: Bedrest is the devil!

  • I spent 13 weeks on bedrest with Max. I spent my time watching movies, catching up on old tv shows, reading books and magazines, coloring (i know, but I love to color) and searching the web. My best friend gave me three months to netflix which was wonderful. I also had a cousin that set up meals for us do I had a visitor just about every week night which was nice. I know how you feel, but you'll survive it and it will be so worth it in the end. Hang in there! Beth

  • I spent 10 weeks on hospital bedrest and I agree, it is TORTURE! If you don't have netflix I would highly recommend getting it-- I would just pretty much watch tv all day long. A few shows I would watch (that took up a LOT of time) were: all the seasons of Lost (1 hour episodes with avg 20 episodes a season...that is 120 hours of time wastin Wink) Dead Like Me was another good one, Accidentally on Purpose, Samantha Who, Rita Rocks, and a bunch of other ones. Its nice to just sit and watch episode after episode uninterrupted.

I would paint my nails, do Sudoku, word searches and crosswords, read books. My mom bought me this Knifty knitter thing from Walmart which I am pretty sure is for kids but it is a loom thing that you can knit baby hats on really easily. I also attempted to do some digital scrapbooking and crafts like that. I would color too-- I made a count down to when I would be off bedrest and decorated each day and added bible verses and positive quotes and had DH hang them around my hospital room.

If you would be interested in any company I would be more than happy to come by with Nicholas and bring you lunch one day this week :-) I know how lonely and isolating bedrest can be and Nicholas will surely brighten your day with his ridiculous hijinx haha Let me know! Hang in there mama!

  • I was only on modified bedrest, so I don't have many suggestions for you and the ones I do have have all be covered by the pp's.

I don't know where you live, but I can come over and teach you how to crochet if you'd like. You could knock out tons of blankets and hats while on bedrest.

I'm so glad that you are at home and still pregnant! I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Do you like to read? Video games? Scrap booking?

I hope time passes quickly for you!

  • Pinterest! Let me know if you want an invite.
  • I read the sookie stackhouse novels- two or three times!  If you want they all arrive this week, I'll be happy to bring them by for ya!  I have a bunch of other books I read, too.

I goofed off of the internet and picked everything out for the baby's room.

I emailed and caught up with my old friends.

Organized wedding photos on my computer.

    Yeah- it was not fun!

  • I was out of town so am just now reading your posts, but I just wanted to tell you I'm thinking about you and hoping all continues to go well!  I'm sure bedrest isn't the greatest, but you're willing to do what is necessary for your little guy, and hopefully you'll find something fun to pass the time. :)

  • I've been reading your posts, but am just now able to reply.

On bedrest I browsed the Internet a lot, bought quite a few baby things that I couldn't get to the store for or didn't know if DH would get the right one. I watched a lot of TV and movies, worked a couple hours from home each day, read books, took naps, had visitors, talked on the phone a lot, made grocery lists for DH to shop off of.

After a few days I was crawling the walls, but there are days now I would love to just sit around and do absolutely nothing. LOL. Just think of it as the calm before the craziness.

  • I spent time on the bump, i had a few hobbies, TV, books.... Hospital bedrest the nurses would come and see me.

I went on bedrest at first for pre-term labor, then the meds they put me on worked perfect. I was put on hospital bedrest to watch baby B, Cali because she was so itty bitty. I wasn't on such strict bedrest once they got the contractions in order.

I did have a lot of hobbies though. I made the girls baskets:)
