Things to do this Summer

Hi,

We are visiting family in Chicago very soon and I wanted to see if anyone could give us some ideas of things to do.  We have a 16 month old baby and are staying in the south suburbs.  We will be going downtown and all around.  Any ideas are much appreciated!

Thanks!

  • The Children's museum at Navy Pier (and Navy Pier in general), Shedd Aquarium, and Lincoln Park Zoo are all great and downtown/near north side. LP Zoo is perfect for young kids because it's small, free, and you can see/do everything in about 2 hours or less. Brookfield Zoo is great too and has a bit more to offer, but is out in the 'burbs and isn't free, but the dolphin show there is great! There are also tons of street festivals in Chicago in the summer, many of which are family-friendly. Check out the City of Chicago's website to find the events calendar or something like metromix.com to get info on all of the festivals.
