I just learned through a friend on FB that sunscreen and bug spray can be made with peanut/nut oil and it doesn't have to be listed as an ingredient!?! So- I did some googling. From what I've found CA baby sunscreen and bugspray are safe as is the Neutrogena Pure and Free baby brand. This would explain why my son's face is a broken out mess of eczema. We've been slathering sun screen on him every time we go outside
Has anyone else had issues with sunscreen or bug spray? What brands do you use? We had been using the Aveeno baby and our babysitter uses lots of different brands for the kids (she gets whatever is on sale). Looks like safe sunscreen is going on the list of things we have to send to daycare (and ask that he gets lotion-ed up before all the other kids to avoid cross contamination...)
Re: sunscreen, bugspray and food allergies
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
DS#2 - Allergic to Cashew, Pistachio, Kiwi
DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
My DDs have celiac disease and aveeno sunscreen caused the worst DH breakout we've ever had.
We have to check lotions, soaps, and cosmetics as well.
Jake's eczema was terrible when we used Aveeno Sunscreen.
We use Ombrelle (I'm Canadian, not sure if you can get it in the states), it's pricy, but well worth it. So far the difference is remarkable.
