Mad as hell!

This afternoon as I was dismissing my first graders, someone came in and stole my laptop!  It was my personal laptop (a gift from MIL and FIL last Christmas), but I used it with the interactive board in my classroom.  I used it for *everything* and now some j@ck@ss has it- complete with all of DS's pictures and our wedding pictures.  I have all of my pictures and most of my files backed up, but still.  I am worried because my taxes are on it, as well as a ton of other stuff.  I am so hurt and mad!  Plus, I can't help feeling that it was my fault.  I should have locked my classroom when I dismissed the kids.  The worst part is, I won't be able to use my interactive board at all next week (the last week of school), and who knows when I'll be able to afford another laptop.  Currently, every teacher in Detroit has a layoff notice Thanks for letting me vent!  Grrrrr.....whimper......sniff, sniff.........

I am so sorry that someone violated you in this way. Stinks! And the layoff notices are just crazy.

Do you know they have lo jack for laptops. I got it for just this reason. I hope you made a policecreport.

My DH works for this company and they can do amazing things. But you do have to file a police report in order to get the process started. Some of his stories that come back from the theft recovery officers can be quite amazing (and funny).
