My inlaws are disappointed we are having girls.. I have been so upset over this. They give me smart ass comments about when we are going to try again for a boy. DHs father never looks excited when we talk about the girls... when we told them for the first time he looked pissed. Last weekend his aunt told me that she wished all her neices and nephews were boys because girls are such a pain. I was in shock! Why would you say that to someone you know is having two girls!?!?! Then I told her that DH is getting really excited about the girls... and she said "keep telling yourself that." I am so heartbroken. I called Dhs mother and told her we wanted her to come to our 4D scan the day of my shower and she was like okay i guess. REALLY? I told my mom and she was jumping off the walls to go! I feel like I am just going to give up. I know that once they are here they change their minds but right now its rough...

Hugs. I'm sorry youR Dh's family is not more excited. That is so sad. My inlays and parents could not be happier and don't care what we have as long as they are healthy. I hope your inlaws come around soon.

My IL's are the same way.  I'm very sorry!  If we end up having 2 girls (which is what I think) my MIL will be livid.  According to her, men in her family ONLY have boys and that's what she wants.  I cannot believe people just can't be happy for us.

Edit:  I just remember this gem.  Right after we told FIL about the twins I said I think I'm having 2 girls.... his response "I'd rather shoot myself".  Ummmm... what?

Wow that is terrible.  I would probably say well if you don't want granddaughters then you don't need to see them because I'm sure my parents will love all the extra time with them.  They should feel like @sses.

I'm so sorry, they definitely should not be upset that you're having girls... and especially shouldn't tell you about it!!!  I hope they come to love your girls when they are born.  How can you not love little girls???

That is so wrong. Just so wrong. I'm p*ssed for you and know what? If they're not excited about you guys having girls, maybe they shouldn't get all that much time with them. It sounds like your ILs have quite a bit of growing up to do. Priorities, people.

I'm so sorry they're not happier for your little girls!  I think twin girls are the cutest!  It will be their loss though.  When we told our families that they think we're having a girl, everyone keeps asking if DH is disappointed it's not a boy... he couldn't be happier, but he would have been thrilled either way... just like I know you guys are.  Try to ignore them and enjoy your pregnancy with these girls!

I'm with Lyse.....I would have a very very hard time not telling them off.  I also am with the PP who said to limit your time with their toxic nature.  just surround yourself with your supportive family.  I am so sorry you have to deal with this. *hugs*

Wow that is so terrible.  We had a couple of rude comments the other way about having a boy instead of a girl but nothing that terrible.  I think the worst was my neighbor saying "oh a boy, well that isn't as exciting though I guess it is still a baby."    I am so sorry they are being this way.  I agree, tell them its their loss and let your parents adore them.

That's really unacceptable - I'm sorry I know it must hurt your feelings.

I will say that my parents were both not unhappy when I was pregnant with my oldest son but just like hey we're young and retired and we've got stuff going on in our lives so we're not going to be around all the time and all that evaporated about 1 minute after they met him.

 haha I totally agree! If my inlaws were acting like that It would be hard for me to bite my tongue. Dont let them get to you. Maybe from now on just involve the family that is excited for you so you dont keep feeling let down!

This seriously makes my stomach turn.   I am SO sorry you are dealing with this...  so unfair and so revolting on multiple levels.   Your baby girls are PERFECT and will be the light of your lives.    I hope with everything in me that their tune changes when they arrive.. for your sake and for your little girls'!

Umm, girls are awesome...who cares what they say!  I know, that's really frustrating and I sincerely hope that they will fall in love with your girls once they're here and forget about whatever it is that's making them think like this now.  And if not, then I totally agree with PP that their time with them will be limited and instead your parents can be the ones to spoil them.

I am so sorry.  This makes me so sad.  I can only hope that when the girls arrive (or your IL's get their heads out of their asses, excuse me) they will change their tune.  Did they order their children off a menu?  That is such childish and inexcusable behavior, and truly their loss if they choose to be pills about something that noone has any control over.  Girls are fabulous BTW.

I have absolutely 0% tolerance for negative comments, or even unspoken negative feelings, about the sex of babies.   Congrats on your sweet baby girls!
