We went to BabiesRus when DS was 5 days old. He was in his carseat the whole time covered by a blanket so it's not like people were touching him. I'm sure they say to wait longer but I'm not much of a germaphobe/paranoid type mom. He was just fine!!
We went out to dinner when she was 2w old. And I think I took her to Target just after that... It wasn't such a big deal, I just didn't let anyone get too close if they wanted to see her. (Grandma's like to look at infants apparently! lol)
I had a small meet-and-greet when she was about a month old too. I think that was the first "party" where she got passed around.
I think our first outing, besides the doctor's office, was probably the mall and that was within the first week or so. But, I would be more cautious this time of year with flu season starting and all - my kiddo was born in June and there wasn't as much to worry about.
If I had her now I'd probably still take her out fairly early, but keep the stroller shield over her. I'm not sure I'd do a big party and if I did, maybe not let her get passed around to a bunch of people.
Well I was in the hospital for 4 days, so probably at about a week or so old. I would say as long as a nb isn't being held by a bunch of people and in the safety of the infant seat or your arms its ok. That said going out by yourself with a nb is a whole new experience I didn't do that until he was like 4 weeks old!
We took her out to eat when she was 5 days old, I think we went to Target that day too. We took her up to my parents house and had a bunch of people over when she was about 2 weeks old. I'm not much of a germaphobe though.
He was in the hospital until 9 days old, we went the Target the next day, church that Sunday (only my friend touched him), and the mall that Monday. He's gone somewhere everyday since.
