Food Allergy

Any Allergy friendly meal planning sites out there?

I've just started Googling to find a good meal planning site.  I am having a really hard time adjusting once again to allergies and almost all of the recipes I have gathered now are useless. :(  My DD has a dairy protein allergy and after her diagnoses I found new recipes and worked hard to find ones we loved.  Now my DH has found out he has adult onset food allergies and I feel like once again the slate has been wiped clean for me and most of the "new recipes" now still have his allergens in them.

I struggle b/c I grew up on just a few recipes.  My Mom made Spaghetti,  Beef Stew, Sloppy Joes, Grilled Chicken, Chicken noodle soup and just a hand full of other things...I get scared by other foods and often don't like them.

The allergy my husband has that is really upsetting to me is Tomato since Spaghetti is one of the only things my DD will eat ugh.  Sorry Frustration taking over and I'm creating a vent here.

Back to main question....It would be great if you could choose what allergens you have and it would give you safe recipes to try....anything out there?  I was looking into Relish, Six O Clock Scramble, and Epicurious Thanks.

  • i wonder if tomato works like some fruits... can't have it raw, but can have it cooked. Not sure if that's the case w/ tomatoes.

For a long time we though my son was also allergic to tomatoes and it sucked. But i was still able to make pretty good pastas.  most were w/ olive oil and garlic. Just like w/ everything else, it takes time to adjusting.

i think any allergy that is not the top 8 is a tough one b/c it can be mis-labeled so you have to be super careful.  I wish i could help you with a website.. this is the only site i know that lets you choose allergies but there is nothing with tomato :(

what's the name of the site you were referring to?  I would love to check it out since tomato is pretty easy to avoid, unfortunately is was just a staple for us.  Also he is allergic to it cooked as well, dairy was WAY harder since it seems like it's in everything.

  • FWIW - I know this isn't exactly what you are asking but there are a couple of phone apps that let you select your allergy and then it will alert you to that ingredient in a food. I have seen it mostly for restaurants but I bet you can find it for recipes too.  My DS has a wheat intolerance and we use it when we go out.

I use the weelicious website a lot for DD b/c you can select dairy free recipes. Most, if not all of the recipes I have made for her are tomato free. Here is the link if you are interested. https://weelicious.com/category/dairy-free/

i though i posted it. oops.

it's a shopping center, so not a place for recipes.

I would look into indian spices.  They give that "tomato" look and full of flavor.
