I feel the same way about bicyclists...especially the ones that want you to share the road but do not stop at stop signs or act like pedestrians!  If your going to act like a car than go play by the rules!

This drives me crazy, too.  Someone needs to remind them they have to share the road with cars, too!   It's a 2-way street... literally!

I gotta represent on this one.  Stick out tongue

DH is a bicyclist.  He rides to and from the Park and Ride on the days he works.  Oftentimes he'll bike in the middle of the lane (usually going really close to the speed limit) to prevent people from not seeing him, or "not seeing him" and either pulling out from side streets or making a right turn right in front of him.  I saw a driver do this just the other day to a bike who was in the bike lane by my house.  There was no way the driver could have missed seeing the bike.  She sped up around him, slammed on her brakes and made a right turn right infront of him.  He had to slam on his breaks and swerve into the brush by the side of the road to avoid hitting her as she drove past.

I admit there are militant bicylists and whatnot, but the majority of bicylists aren't out there to make drivers lives hell.  They're just trying to get from point A to point B or trying to get in a little exercise.

I'm fine if they want to ride in the lane like that.  What I am not fine with is bikes who think they don't need to stop at stop lights or stop signs, or think they can just blow by a car on the right if the car is waiting to turn.   Obey the rules of the road if you want to "drive" on the road.

edit to add:  ALSO, I get mad when bikes ride 2 or 3 across in a bike lane so they're weaving over the line a lot and I'm scared I'll hit them.  Or, on East Lake Samm there's gotta be a 5 foot wide bike lane and I'll see one jackass riding RIGHT ON THE LINE.  Why not drive IN the bike lane instead of tempting fate?  I'll be the one who has to live with killing you for the rest of my life.  You'll be dead, yo won't care.

Do you mean in the bike lane?  It's legal for them to ride past cars waiting to turn if the bike is in a bike lane.

No, I mean when they're just in the main road "sharing" the main lane.

Someone is going to die or get badly hurt on E Lake Samm very soon.  I drive that road every day and I give 3 feet like we are supposed to but too many bikers bike that road that don't know "how"  Ride on the wrong side, ride 2 abreast, or worse, ride in the traffic lane.

And just like any situation, a few bad apples spoil the bunch. I work Down Town where bikers whiz in and out of traffic, ride ther wrong way on 1 way streets, hop up and down off of side walks as their needs fit, and don't wear helmets.  More people focus on those bikers than on those that are respectfully following traffic laws and yeilding where they should.

I tried to be this person by calling my police chief about the Burke Gilman cyclists who don't stop at the stop sign near my house.  The tail crosses a street at the bottom of a short and very steep hill; it's dangerous for cars to stop, so the trail has the stop sign.  Most cyclists never stop because they think they're better than drivers.

And the police chief actaully called me back to discuss the situation and what they're trying to do.  I love my city.

    Huh?A bit presumptuous?

Nope. Not at all. Anyone who knowingly and willingly violates traffic laws is acting out of a superiority complex.

Cyclists and truck drivers as groups are the worst.

People who drive minivans are the worst.

    I fixed that for you.

And really, everyone violates traffic laws.  If you don't come to a complete stop at a stop sign and you know full well that you should, you've knowingly violated a traffic law.  If you don't come to a complete stop both before and after a sidewalk when leaving a parking complex, you've violated a traffic law.

Cyclists aren't the worst by far.  Bike Messangers are the worst.  Regular cyclists are not.
