Losing mucus plug while already dilated to 3 cm.

Well I went to the doc on Monday for my 36 week appointment and was 3 cm and thinned out.  He didnt give me a percent but im guessing i was pretty close to be 100% as the exam didnt hurt nor did my GBS swab and the fact that he said if my contractions came consistent, got stronger, and didnt stop to get to the hospital ASAP bc he expected me to progress fast.  Well ive been having increasing contractions since Monday and they have become more time able and stronger but nothing that last more than 45 mins @ a time.  Ive always heard that losing your mucus plug doesnt mean anything.  But i went to the restroom a few mins ago and lost my plug (about the size of a quarter).  Wondering if me already being @ 3cm and thinned if this means labor is near.  Kinda nervous yet kinda excited.  Guess i will just wait and see if the contractions pick up or my water breaks lol.

I'm not sure, I was induced and my water was broken at the hospital.  Sounds promising, but I know you can stay dilated and loose your plug and still not go into active labor for a few days.

this is the same thing that happened to me so far my contractions have been about 6-7 min apart for the past 2 hours! I lost my Mucus plug about 5 hours ago and yesterday the Dr told me I was 80% effaced and 3cm dilated. DH and I are getting ready just in case the contractions get stronger. Good Luck!

I am right there with ya!  3cm, thinned out and lost my plug last night.  My contractions havent gotten to the 5 minute mark yet, but im patiently waiting.  I read in "What to expect" that even after the mucus plug passes, labor could still be a week away!  I am still packed and prepared just in case.
